This place is amazing. From the moment my partner and i walk in we were impressed and felt relaxed. We arrived late at night so we organised the driver to pick us up from the airport. Walking into the property at night it even looked amazing. The room was a standard size room big enough for 2. The only thing that was a proble was there wasnt enough room to have two suitcases stored easily so you can get things in and out of them. The bed was so big which was fantastic in the heat.
Alot of people have complained about the Mosquitos in previous reviews but let me tell you they do everything they can to make sure they stay away with coming around to spray your room at night to putting coils out the front of your room every night. Also you are in Thailand people.
The service was 5 star. The staff was extremely friendly, always willing to help you with anything you needed to know.
I honestly could go on and on about how much i loved this place. The pool was amazing with relaxing music always on from when you walk out of your room in the morning. I couldnt of relaxed more. Great for couples.
It is also a short walk to main part of Kata. Make sure you have a massage at the place directly next door. They are amazing girls.
Once again thank you for an amazing holiday i will definetly be back next year for a visit. Thank you, missing it there already.

Our group of 6 second time here and we were pleased to see they have made improvements to an already perfect place. We try not to stay in the same places but made an exception here as we all enjoyed our stay so much in 2007. It really is a little oasis of paradise tucked away in a street in Kata. A very nice Reception area was really welcoming. The staff here are exceptionally nice. The rooms are on the small side but are jam packed with nice things! The bathrooms have been given a make-over and the extra 2 bottles of water were a nice touch (4 in total). They think about the little things here to make everything perfect. Nice bathroom lotions, computer in room plus wi-fi, mozzie coils provided on the comfortable balconies, turn down service. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the service and food was excellent. Breakfast buffet well presented with lovely surroundings and atmosphere in the dining room. The pool was inviting and cool, a nice change from the overheated pools of some resorts. Swim up bar, cocktails on special and a nice lunch selection to choose from. Easywalking to shops and restaurants and a shuttle bus to the beach. We had a tour of the new villas and the boys in our group up-graded us all to a villa each as a surprise for Mothers Day for our last night. The Villas were exceptional luxury. Swimming out of your lounge spa pool into your own small pool, then out into the main pool that can only be accessed by the 14 Villas. A swim up bar at one end. The Villas are over 2 levels with the biggest bed I have ever slept in !!! Fabulous bathroom. Sofa at the bottom of the bed with foot bath and a big TV on the wall. Downstairs another TV, computer access and a huge lounge. Sheer luxury and thoroughly enjoyed. The Sawasdee Village is a very well managed resort with thought put in for the little extras that make somewhere extra special.

We booked this hotel following reviews on TripAdvisor for a few days of our honeymoon whilst travelling around Thailand. On our arrival our room was not ready which was annoying as we were put in a waiting area and left to it for half an hour. When we got to the room it was fine, very dark but this is due to all the dark wood that's used. The bed was large however very hard!! It was also noted that it was intact two beds pushed together, not great!! However this did not affect our stay too badly. The pool was great as was the service at the pool bar, special mention to Tom who was very helpful and friendly. The food served at the pool bar was also very nice. The major problem here is the Mosquitos however they really are doing their best to eliminate them! Obviously there is alot of water around the hotel so this doesn't help. The breakfast was good as was the service. We extended our stay to 3 more days and had a night in the Baray Villa (see separate review) and they staff were helpful and accommodating with regard to this. However there are only a limited amount of staff that speak good enough English to actually get anything done and the others just smile at you blankly when you ask them something. Overall it is a nice hotel off a busy street that has a nice pool and friendly service, the price is average and therefore the rooms are average, we did not check out other hotels in the area so cannot compare but if you are after a more exclusive holiday experience I would recommend upgrading to the Baray Villa.

Dear Value Guest,

We are very much apprieciated for your kind comments on TripAdvisor. Regarding to your recent stay with us, we do apologize for your late check in to the room due to our high occupancy and our maid was not able to make up room in time. According to your bed, we have no information that you prefer to have softer bed - we provide the extra request of soft mattress in every room, so we didn't provide for you. Our Human Resorce Department reallize that English is very important, then we organize English training to ensure that out staff will be wll trained as always. Thank you very much for your stay with us and we do hope to welcome you back next time !

This place has a grest "thai" feel which was what we were after. Most of the staff had poor english but they were all very friendly. The breakfast was a great start to the day, location was good - not in the thick of it but shops and beach were all walking distance. The mosquitoes made it hard to sit outside the room (with the streams/ponds surrounding) however they weren't a problem at the pool, thank god because it is gorgeous and we made it for 2-for-1 happy hour every day at the pool bar!
Free wifi also a bonus, good for uploading photos on facebook to make friends jealous. ( I got 27 likes :) )
Would stay again for sure.

We loved this hotel. We honestly weren't crazy about Phuket itself, but we did really love our stay at Sawasdee. The breakfast was great, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the spa was just okay. It's walking distance to a lot of restaurants as well as the beach. We mostly took the free shuttle to the beach then walked back. I would recommend staying here for a trip to Phuket.

I stayed in the Sawasdee Village with my girlfriend for 2 weeks and had a great experience.
Where to start?

Excellent pick up service to and from the airport. We received a warm welcome on arrival, we got showed around our room and all the hotel services were explained. The room was maybe a little small considering we stayed there for 2 weeks but the bed is huge and the cleaners do a great job everyday at keeping it clean. If you have the extra money then you could always upgrade to the Barray villa.

The room had everything we needed incase we forgot anything like: hair dryer, umbrella, beach towels with tote bag (replaced daily), shower cap, toothbrushes, cotton buds, shampoo / conditioner etc and even give you 4 free bottles of water everyday! I've stayed in several 5 star hotels across the world and never received the same service as I did here.

Breakfast at the Thai cuisine caters for everyone's taste whether you want fresh fruit or a fry up.

The staff at the Sawasdee are fantastic. They will literally go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. We used room service quite a lot and the food is very good. The room service menu comes from a restaurant 3 or 4 doors up from the hotel called Fire Water and Grill which is also owned by the hotel.

One thing I would recommend is that if you are travelling outside of the hotel so somewhere like Chaolong or Patong ask at reception for the address of the hotel in Thai because some of the taxi / tuk tuk drivers got it mixed up with hotels with similar names in different areas (we learned the hard way - 20 mins drive in the wrong direction).

I got a treatment done at the barray spa and it seems a little expensive but it's definitely worth it. I went for a small treatment a few days later next door and it wasn't the same experience (still good but barray is voted in the top 50 spa's in Thailand!)

The area the Sawasdee is situated is relatively quiet at night. It would nice if there was some entertainment but then if you're tired after a hard days island hopping you'll have no trouble sleeping. The beach is around a 10 minute walk but there is a free shuttle that leaves on the hour every hour until 6pm and picks up when you want.
If you don't want to go to the beach you can always chill by the pool and enjoy cocktails at the poolbar.

If like ourselves you like to see as much of a place as you can and book tours. I strongly recommend Kate Kwan travel opposite the hotel (It's still part of the hotel). We got some very good deals. Strongly recommend the Ko Phi Phi 6 island hopper by speedboat!

This was our first time visiting Thailand and I know if we ever return to Phuket I'll know where to stay!

Room Tip: Keep your room door closed to keep mosquitos out!
