“modern designer hotel, off the beaten track, but with limited services”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013

I stayed only one night with a friend at this hotel for a quick weekend get-away. Would I stay here again? maybe if I had more time.

Positives:
- very cool design, starting from the lobby all the way to the rooms and the pool upstairs. It's definitely a cool yuppy place.
- The pool is open even late at night
- the offer a limited number of motorbikes you can rent
- free WIFI in lobby
- very quiet

Negatives:
- not easy logistically: it's about a 1 hour+ drive to the airport. That's our fault for not researching this in advance, but we wouldn't have picked it for our short getaway. Airport shuttles drop off there, but don't pick up. Taxi ride to airport is not cheap.
- shuttle to Kata beach is only a few times a day and not really convenient.
- nothing really closeby that's walking distance, so you need to hire a taxi or rent a motorbike. We wanted to rent one, but they were out
- WiFi did not work in rooms, only in lobby
- walked into room that was stuffy and smelled of insect repellent, while 2 mosquitoes were still flying around the room
- pretty slow service at front desk

Before I continue, we stayed and had prepaid for 17 nights here. Whilst this hotel is advertised as adult only, they do take children and when confronted, the excuse is that the guests arrived late at night with children and staff didn't want to refuse.
Would we stay here again should we visit Phuket again? No. There are plenty of hotels which I would say are superior in terms of facilities and price and are in a better location.
On arrival we were allocated room 512 which was absolutely brilliant until we went to go to the pool. 150 steps later, we arrive exhausted in the reception area to get the lift up the next 2 floors. Now if we had known in advance that the rooms are situated down the hill with NO lift would we have booked this hotel! Not sure. There was no information given with regards to transport up to the reception area (they do have golf buggies but didn't say you could ask for them to collect you), there's no information regarding contacting the reception - ie. the number to call in emergency etc. that was guess work. Due to my husbands medical condition (and our ages, 68 & 56) we asked if there was anyway we could order the buggie to collect us and were given another room...oops! Big mistake! Given room 103 which is really noisy! Had we been offered as we'd asked transport up from our room, we'd have stayed where we were as the room was quiet and private.
More staff than managers and on the whole, standing around doing nothing, in fact, ask to see a manager and you'll be lucky. We asked 3 times and didn't see them once. The room was cleaned adequately, the balcony only when I complained. Not sure whether the room floor was mopped or not. Certainly, the bathroom didn't look like it had been every day. There is no storage for clothes, only half a dozen hangers, no cupboard space.
DON'T ask the hotel for transfers, they charge 1500B for transfer from the airport and taxi from the hotel using the rank outside is 1200. Proper price is between 800 and 850B. Try google search to book transfers.
They have staff who have very near fluent English language skills at night. I mean, when there's no-one around. Why not appoint them to work during the day when there are more guests around instead of staff who have no idea what you're saying. There's also NO guest information anywhere.
Restaurant - overpriced. Breakfast, 1 rasher of overlooked streaky bacon, 1 sausage of indiscriminate source, 2 fried eggs or omelette, and a dish of something..not sure what or Thai breakfast which is more savoury than European taste. Also buffet with bread, croissants, jam etc but certainly not worth 600 B per person.
Pros:
Location - overlooking Kata Noi beach, breathtaking views.
Rooms - minimalistic rooms in monochrome, extra large bed, stunning. Minibar and fridge with water and cola, tea and coffee complimentary.
Beautiful bathroom with wet room and bath.
Pool - infinity with outstanding views and sun deck for sunbathing.
Cons:
Location - uphill walk back to the hotel, tuktuk expensive and hotel transport not frequent enough and only to Kata beach which is inferior to Kata Noi beach.
Rooms - no storage facilities
Bathroom - not cleaned thoroughly and the glass in the bathroom is dirty and hasn't been cleaned in the 2.5 weeks we stayed. There's also a terrible drain smell on occasion in the bathroom which they have a real job to control. They had to clean the drains in our bathroom and it still had a bad prawn smell. Horrid!
No mirrors
Staff - unhelpful
Restaurant and bar - expensive
Wifi - poor connection and slow

Room Tip: Don't choose a low number room and ask for the biggie to collect you from your room.

Very nice new design hotel. Very good pool with panoramic view, lounge music, chairs and beautiful sunset. Free wi-fi everywhere. Free minibar with small snacks. Breakfast until 1 PM.

Rather far from both Kata and Kata Noi beaches, free transfer to Kata beach only three times a day.
Rather poor breakfast buffet though you can order one of three menus which are usually omelet and two asian soups. No room service available.
As the hotel is on a hill there is no elevator to the rooms.
booking.com pictures were showing that there will be a bath on the room balcony but there was no :(

This hotel is on a VERY STEEP HILL. My husband and I are fit, active people and walking DOWN the hill was very difficult, walking up the hill would be impossible. Even the tuk tuks and cabs have difficulty going up this hill. And they will charge you 200 thb to take you from the main road to the hotel.
Also this hotel is fairly new and not many people even in Kata know where it is by the name. If you try to get a cab from another nearby town, they won't know where it is. We took a photo of the Orchid Hotel, which is at the base of the hill our hotel is on, and we would show this to cab drivers.
For the Pros, the bed was extremely comfortable bed and we had a great view of the ocean. The room was large and the walk in shower was very nice. The Thai breakfasts were very filling, and were always served with what I assume was meant to be a soft boiled egg. However, I'm guessing that the egg was only cooked for about 30 seconds and was basically just a raw egg with only the very outer 1-2mm of skin was cooked. I ordered the American breakfast one day, which came with 2 eggs over easy and they were served with runny whites. But the restaurant does have a spectacular view of the infinity pool and the ocean. The staff was also very friendly.

The hotel definitely lives up to its tagline; "Different Memories". We went here for our honeymoon and was welcomed with juices n wine glasses, fruits, and some local thai dessert (they wanted to give us wine, but we're muslims, hence they substituted with these instead). Our sea view room was stunning..overlooking Kata Beach, not to mention the outdoor bath tub on our balcony. We were already excited with the room, but when we got to the 3rd floor (the swimming pool n restaurant), we were even more pleased by the amazing contemporary setup and ambience. Let the pictures do some justice. Will definitely come back with my big family. It was a perfect honeymoon.

We LOVED this hotel!! We only stayed here for 3 nights, but wished it was more. We kept comparing every other hotel on our trip to this one.

FRONT DESK: everyone was very friendly and helpful, and english was spoken really well. Check-in/out was quick and easy. There was a buggy service to take you to your room with your bags. Decor is very modern and all black, white and grey.

ROOM: looks just like the pictures. They are a good size, very clean and modern decor. The bed was SOOO comfortable and larger than a regular king bed. We had a decent sized private balcony that overlooked the ocean with a day bed and outdoor tub. The minibar was all free and had lots of water, pop and snacks. Wifi was free all over the hotel and easy to access. There was a large sofa in the room, an iPod dock with speaker, safe, a large interactive flat-screen where you could view your hotel bill, front desk messages etc. The bathroom was large and clean. Our room was on one of the lowest floors and becuase the sections of the hotel are spread out over the mountain, there isn't really an elevator that runs to each section, so we had lots of stairs to walk up...we definitely got our cardio workout in!

POOL: was amazing! It was a large roof-top infinity pool that had lots of day beds and loungers surrounding it. There were also different sections and levels in the pool so you could swim or lay back in the water and relax. The view was great...we spent a lot of time here!

RESTAURANT: we didn't end up eating here, it seemed expensive compared to other restaurants in the area and the menu wasn't that large.

LOCATION: just minutes from Kata beach, which in our opinion was the best beach and much quieter than the other ones. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The only downside is that the hotel is on a hill, so its a long tiring walk back from the beach. The hotel does offer a shuttle to and from the beach but it only has a few times. For 350 baht you can rent a scooter from the hotel, which makes it super easy to get around. Or there are taxis and tuk tuks everywhere.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!! If you aren't in good shape, I would recommend asking for a room that is located close to the lobby so you don't have to climb too many steps. You can request the front desk to pick you up and drop you off with their gilf carts if needed.

Room Tip: If you don't want to climb lots of stairs, request a room that is close to the lobby. There isn...

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel. WOW, very nice hotel. I will be back for sure.

Just open in october 2012.

The rooms are big and very nice design and has everything, big bed and shower room.
And the hotel has a nice location up in the hill with a great view. The swimming pool area and restaurant has perfect location and a great view over Kata Beach.

I hope the restaurant restaurant gets a bigger meny for lunch and dinner, then you do not leave the hotel. :))

And when the elevator is finish is better for the rooms in the lower section.

The staff is young and give a VERY good service, very helpful, Thanks.

I recommend this hotel very much. Just go there and see for yourself and enjoy.

Room Tip: Top level with view
