This restaurant has the most beautiful setting, right on the south end of Kata Beach, and handily next to the Ska Bar. However we found the food variable. While my tempura prawns were delicious, my partner's Thai Green curry with duck was dreadful. There was no edible duck meat, just slices of fat and gristle.
Service was also poor, staff largely unfriendly and disinterested.
There are many restaurants close by with much better food - eg Natalie's.
We won't be back to Mama Kata. If you must go, I'd suggest only trying seafood dishes.
