The Shore at Katathani is an amazing place. From the moment of check-in, to the sad day you have to leave, you'll love The Shore.

We arrived to The Shore and were greeted by a super friendly staff who adourned us with flowers and provided us with a freshing drink. They were simply amazing, and the most professional, friendly staff you will find anywhere.

What you need to know:
1. Ocean View Villa with Infinity Pool: An amazing experience. If you haven't had an infinity pool before, do it now. We were in villa 8882 and absolutely couldn't have had a better spot. Lovely view of Kata Noi beach from our deck or from our refreshing pool.

2. The views: the hotel is siutated on a hill. It gives awesome views of Kata Noi beach and most villas appear to get direct sun by mid afternoon. It's beautiful. Sunsets are epic.

3. Food. You can get breakfast served to your room for free, but choices are limited. I suggest you opt for breakfast at The Harbor. Breakfast is included, so either option won't end up costing any more. But The Harbor offers so much more in terms of choices and you're pretty much right there on the beach.

The Shore is connected to the main Katathani hotel. As guests of The Shore you can use all of their facilities and restaurants, BUT guests of the Katathani main hotel CANNOT use The Shore facilities. This is very nice, since the main hotel is much larger and has many more guests.

4. Getting around: The Shore has a number of "club cars" which are electric golf carts that will come to your room and transport you anywhere on the grounds, and in some cases, even off grounds. The driver took us to a currency exchange off the property in the golf cart, to get a better rate on exchange.

Tips:

1. The restaurants were good, but not great. Try the local town. We walked to the Kata Beach town and ate there most nights. If you want a change of pace, go to "The Horn Grill" for America fare. It's amazing. if you don't want to walk there, a taxi is 200 Baht. Really cheap.

I also recommend Cafe Opera Live in Kata Beach, very close to Horn Grill. It has live music and excellent Thai food as well. It was a super fun experience.

We didn't try Mom Tri's restaurant which is situated right there at Kata Noi beach but it has good reviews on Trip Advisor. Try it.

2. 2 for 1 drinks at happy hour at The Harbor restaurant onsite. Happy hour is 5:30-7pm. there's a Beautiful lawn with all type of chairs and recliners to use AND an infinity pool there as well. Do NOT miss a sunset there. Gorgeous. We made sure to catch happy hour every day we were there just for the sunset. They also provide free banana chips and roasted nuts to everyone. A nice snack.

3. Kata Noi beach is gorgeous. If you're like us, and hate overcrowded Patong, then Kata Noi is the place. People complain about garbage that washes up on shore overnight, but the hotel cleans the beach at 8am. We walked the beach EVERY morning before sunrise and saw very little trash wash up.

Quite Stunning -
My wife and I arrived at The Shore for a 6 night vacation from 18th March 2013. - At reception at 1-15pm our Villa was not ready but Sylvia the receptionist was very charming and treated us to a free lunch whilst we waited - Eventually we were taken to our villa at 2-45pm - we stayed in villa 8821 - Wow! what a delight when we entered our villa - Idyllic view , very clean and all the amenities you could wish for - Our own infinity pool and plenty of space - Very clean and a birthday cake waiting for my wife , whose birthday it was during our trip - All the staff we encountered were very friendly and the facilities top class.
It is very difficult to find fault with this Hotel , and if any criticism , not of the Hotel , but the surrounding area is quite limited to a couple of basic restaurants , massage and tailors. But it is only a 10 min taxi to Kata Town where there are Restaurants , shops aplenty. We also visited Mon Tri restaurant at Villa Royale and The Boathouse in Kata , wonderful food and experience.
Well done The Shore and all the staff.

Sam Higgins UK

Room Tip: Mid terrace best as able to walk up and down the hill quite comfortably without requesting a Club car and yet still have a wonderful view.

I got married at the Katathani hotel and stayed in The Shore. The wedding day couldn't of been anymore perfect. Everything was fantastic on the day, the staff were brilliant and the lay out of the wedding was perfect. The rooms at The Shore are out of this world and without doubt an experience. 10 out of 10 for everything ( Breakfast, Staff, Rooms, Beach, Bars on Beach, Food )

I spent there the first 5 days of my honeymoon it was a wonderful experience... rooms are very clean and private. The view from the room and the pool was awesome. They planned day trips for us. Food was very good (a bit expensive).
We rented a motorbike from a shop in front of the hotel to make it easier exploring the city as it is far from city center.

My wife and I stayed for ten nights at the Shore on a half board basis in a sea view villa with pool.

Located at one end of Kata public Beach and near other Hotels of the resort and a few shops the Shore at Katathani overlooks the bay and access is exclusive to the guests staying there. Our villa was a little way up the hill not far from main reception and golf buggies take you around the site as it is extremely hilly. It is that feature though that gives the superb views out over the bay from the villa bedroom and outside terrace. Well furnished and extensively equipped the villa is spacious with good storage, bath and shower, free water and crockery and cutlery. Housekeeping is excellent and small details like chocolate treats and fresh fruit are very pleasing. One novelty is where you put out small turtles to indicate whether you want the villa cleaned or linen changed.

The Shore has it's own restaurant called The Harbour which overlooks the swimming pool and beach for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a "Happy Hour" every evening. On half board we were given a voucher card which we could use in six restaurants in the wider resort and our favourites were Chanada and La Scala. To eat just outside the resort we strongly recommend dinner at Mama Tri's.

Did a trip on the shuttle bus to Phuket town (disappointing) and a boat trip to Phang Nga with Simba Sea Tours (brilliant!). Jenny (one of the owners) and Harry who came with us on the boat trip made it memorable.

The Shore was a "chill out" spell for us between Bangkok and Singapore and we just totally relaxed. The staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful and we loved every minute there. Could do with a better way to cover the breakfast buffet from flies but the Serenity Spa for a massage is great.

We understand the Shore is going to be extended substantially within the next two years so we felt we experienced the best of it as further development is likely to take away some of the gloss.

Room Tip: Book a sea view villa if you can.
