A proper 1 h long elephant trekking through the rainforest!
This place & its staff absolutely deserves our "congratulations" for a brilliant job they do there:
- the "mahout" ( elephant responsible person ) was a very nice person, he took many pictures of us on the elephant
- after the ride, you can feed the elephants with bananas ( as a small" thank you" you can donate if you want some money to help the sanctuary) its not like the usual tourist rip off (e.g. We went on another elephant trekking tours as well, where the bananas actually COST 100 baht!)
-we got transfer in a nice car from our hotel to Kok Chang and back again to the hotel

In a few words: brilliant experience, was the highlight of our trip! Congrats and thank you Kok Chang!
If we come back to Karon again, we will come to Kok Chang surely again! Highly recommended to everyone :-)

Based on reviews on TripAdvisor we chose this tour and it was great. Easy to organise, we did it on the morning we wanted to go and they picked us up from our hotel in a modern, clean, expensive looking 4WD. No mucking around when we got there, straight onto the elephants - 2 for our family of 5. We chose 30min tour main difference between this and 50min was that you can see the other side of the island on the 50min tour - but we didn't worry about this. Still got great view from the top. Guides took photos for us and our kids got to sit on the head of the elephant on the way down - bit scary but great experience. Got to feed the elephants bananas at the end. Reasonably priced drinks at the bar - no obligation though - clean toilets - then back to our hotel. 1.5 hours total door to door. Great experience!

We chose this elephant trek after a great deal of research. I wanted a park that clearly cared for the elephants welfare. Kok Chang didn't disappoint! We arrived to 7 beautiful female elephants roaming freely, "Alex" was chosen for us. We had the 50 minute trek ( I wouldn't go for any less) where our 'driver' let my husband take his place bareback while he took magnificent photos of our trek. We rode Alex on our own for over 10 minutes. Truly a breathtaking experience that I cant recommend highly enough. When the trek finished we watched Alex have a shower then relax. The park only offers treks 4 times per day, so the elephants are not working the whole time.

I would caution (as have others on this review thread) to make sure you take the address and name of this park to give to your driver, or get your hotel to book it for you. We didn't do this the first time and got taken to another park and were told that it was the same one but that it had changed its name. Whilst we did see a very cute baby elephant there, the park looked awful and elephants were chained to caralls. We left, and our hotel booked the correct one for us.

Lovely place to visit, the elephants are treated very well regardless of the other reviews. End of the day if the guy uses the hook on the elephant its for YOUR safety, they never use the hook just the flat end and actually in the grand scheme of things i doubt it hurts the elephant, it would be the same as us being tapped on the arm! They take lots of pictures and once the trek is over they wash and give the elephants a big drink, the people are very friendly and clearly care about the animals. I am a big animal lover and was not distressed by anything i saw.
