“Excellent location on the beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2011

close to all the restaurants (lots of choice) and shops. didnt get the deluxe room with sea view which we had booked 9 months in advance. No apology from reception. Found the reception staff not very welcoming. Luckily we had booked through a package and a representative of the package company came to the hotel the following day, all of a sudden the reception staff couldnt do enough for us, we still had to wait 4 days though to move but it was worth it..the sea view room was fabulous. The grounds, pool area and beach were lovely and clean, sunbeds were a problem, towels on them all the time, evening sunsets were just perfect. a couple of cheap beach bars as you walk out of the hotel and onto the beach. breakfast has everything you could want, really enjoyed. I would stay again even though we had a room problem, we enjoyed our stay here.

We booked through an online booking website that gave real low cost price. So for the price we cannot complain. Everything was there, the locate is great as most of the reviewers are specifying. WE were there with our twin babies of 14 month and we got cots for them... for free.. but do contact them and e sure that they did understood.
Breakfast buffet has nothing special but has all. Any good points ? the pizzas at the front beach restaurants are very good !... the beach is really nice... and it is an area of tranquility.. For the ones that like to complain for nothing..... understand that the price you pay will give an overview of the service in general.... so I think that this hotel is above level for the fees... Rooms are tidy and neat.... and true some of the employees are not smiling.... but some and not all... in general they were at the expected level of service.... so I would recommend that hotel if you are looking for a nice location for a nice price.

Room Tip: contact them personaly by mail and follow by phone

Just got back from a 4 night stay at Kata Beach resort - having holidayed for the past few years in and around Thailand you get very used to the great Thai welcome and service at most establishments which was sorely lacking at the Kata Beach resort. The hotel location is good, Kata beach itself is fabulous with many great restaurants/bars (well priced) within walking distance so I would go back to the area again but with a different hotel. This hotel is overpriced for the level of service and comfort provided - pool area is OK but gets very crowded. Unless you want to set your alarm early in the morning to grab a seat by the pool or beach then forget it - by 9.00 a.m you are presented with a sea of pre reserved towels on every lounger with only a single place remaining next to the restrooms. Service out by the pool is non existent, expect to wait at the swim up bar for someone to notice you, lunch must be taken at the bar tables - can't have it delivered to you by the pool at all (despite your 6.00 wake up call to reserve a choice spot). The one day we did lunch at the hotel had to send one meal back as the chicken was raw inside. Breakfast was pretty mediocre although there were international flavours to choose from don't expect the standard from one of the international chains. Do not expect to be greeted warmly by any of the staff. The place was clean and well maintained but really could do a lot better to deserve it's current star rating.

I was getting a little worried when I read reviews on this hotel just before we departed for Thailand. Upon arrival around midnight we were confronted with only a king size bed in our room and now where for our two children to sleep, after a long discussion with the front reception they organised a roll away bed for one child and the other bunked in with us for the night. The next morning I put my foot down and demanded proper sleeping arrangements and beds for my children, which we where then upgraded to the pool wing which stepped right out onto the pool. We were happy little vegemites after that. We could not fault this hotel one bit other than it being a little too expensive, but that did not stop us as we just waved the beach cafes over to us and purchased our food and drink from them. The location of the hotel is just perfect, right on the beach with ample activities ie: parasailing, banana boat rides, jetskis etc. I am also now convincined we now never need a kids club in a hotel, my kids are age 9 years and 5 years and we never saw them unless they were hungry and needed money!! The restuarants around the hotel are awesome, we hired bikes and looked at the sights that way. We made some great friends and some who we intended to keep in touch with in the future. If you stay here you will not be disapointed, we had a ball...!

Hotel was nice, clean (although we did have some ants in our room by the coffee and cups) and right on the beach. We loved the location most of all, you could walk to onto the beach from the hotel, which is rare in Phuket or you could use one of the hotel lounge chairs and feel as you were on the beach anyways with great views of the ocean. We also loved our balcony and our room overall was nice. The hotel food and drinks were extremely expensive so we always ventured out for food and drinks but there is ample selection close to the hotel. To purchase a fresh coconut drink at the hotel was 170 Baht however if you walked 50 feet to the beach it was 40 Baht. We left a book in our room when we checked out and came back 3 hours to claim it but the maids had already thrown it away which was disappointing. We paid around $150 USD a night and enjoyed our stay but I don't think I would stay there again. We moved to a nearby hotel that was only $25 USD a night. The other hotel wasn't on the beach and the rooms weren't quite as nice but for the savings of $125 USD a night it was well worth it. The problem with the cheap hotels in Phuket is some are nice and some are a dump so you have to be very careful. We chose to pay extra for this hotel for our first few nights so we could scope out a cheap hotel that we were confidant was nice and that plan worked wonders for us. This hotel is a sure bet to be 'nice' but if you do your homework you can find a much better value elsewhere. The hotel we moved to was Baan Thai Homestay in case anyone is interested. (side note when you are on the island looking for rooms negotiate rates!)

Found the service lacking. Badly in need of complete make-over! Impossible to get sunchairs at pool. Very difficult on beach too as many were "reserved"!! Found that most of deckchairs were booked from the early hours of the morning!
could find a better place to stay that has better service and FREE WIFI..

Stayed in Kata Beach 7 nights, then moved in another hotel of Kata Group Phuket Orchid on Karon. Kata Beach Resort and Spa is GREAT ! it's good for romantic honeymoon and for families with children, for solo travellers and your can send there your parents and they will like it. The location is Perfect, right on the beach, no big stairs, your sunbed is under coconut palm near the pool and the sea is 30 steps away. very comfortable with children. Beach Kata is safe from waves (in March), not deep about 6-10 meters. Outside the hotel there are nice restaurans, really lively but not like patong ! Recommend to visit Dino-Park with kid's ( it's between kata and Karon , on main street) and Fantasea !
