I was so glad that my request for a seaview deluxe room was fulfilled during check-in. The request was made through my booking with one of the hotel booking websites, which does not guarantee the view of deluxe room.

We were greeted by friendly hotel staffs, always with a smile from the moment we checked in. I droved my rented car to the hotel lobby to unload my bags and was surprised to find that a friendly English lady who I thought was a tourist initially approached us and helped to coordinate the unloading. She is Matilda, the 'celebrity' customer service rep of Avista. Welcome drink served and wet towel given during check-in.

The moment the room door was opened, I was amazed with the modern design of the room, with LCD Flatscreen TV, DVD player. Everything looks new, nice and clean. I was also delighted with the FREE Wi-Fi service offered by the hotel. Enjoying a drink at our room balcony during sunset, chit-chating and surfing internet through our mobile phone via Wi-Fi is one of the most enjoyable moment during my stay at the hotel.

The buffet breakfast at En Vogue, the hotel's only restaurant, was tempting due to great variety of food. The lovely customer service rep, Matilda, was seen in the restaurant every morning, talking to every hotel guest from one table to another, getting daily feedback from each hotel guest for improvement. This is what I call the hotel with excellent service which deserves compliments.

The hotel is located on steep hill between Karon beach and Kata beach. However, due to its proximity to Kata & Karon beaches and the happening town, it is still one of the best place to stay in Kata. Moreover, it is safer staying on a hill in case there is a Tsunami. There are 3 decent swimming pools and a gym in the hotel. Each room is also provided with umbrella and beach slippers, The most special feature of all in our room is the soothing blue color wall lighting to create a more romantic feel. Loved it!

The only complaint I had was the inconsistent temperature of the shower in my bathroom. Though you set to slightly warmer water, the temperature was flip-flopping between hot and cold water. A problem which the hotel should look into.

Overall, this is the right place to stay in Kata or even in the whole of Phuket, considering the location, value for money, tip-top service, nice & clean hotel, modern & trendy room design with complete hotel facilities. I definitely recommend it and will return if I come to Phuket again for vacation.

Big rooms, excellent service from the staff, good food, good distance from the city center and near the beach. Maybe not the best choice for elder/disabled because of the steep hill up and down from the hotel.

The hotel is close to Karon and Kata , but secluded enough to be quiet.
The hotel is beautifully landscaped and we happily spent a lot of time at the pool. The children also enjoyed the games room, computer and kids club and felt secure walking around by themselves.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and knew us by name.
The rooms were well designed and very comfortable. They were well maintained and clean. We had problems with regulating the hot water, but this was fixed.
It was difficult to climb the hill in full sun, and when we felt lazy we easily found a tuk tuk.
Nam the taxi driver out the front was very sweet and helpful. He speaks good English and has a very clean car.
We enjoyed the spa facilities and would recommend the massage.
Breakfast was fresh and there was a lot of variety.

What can I say? The hotel is fantastic, the facilities were clean and you could see staff constantly cleaning so that everything was perfect. The room was enormous and spacious, with partial views to Kata Beach, very well equipped, they provided you wou with beach sandals, one umbrella and more things I can´t remember. The restaurant provided with a pretty wide range of things for breakfast, but if you contract (like we did) the dinner as half board, make sure beforehand it is buffet, because we had menus to choose from, not what we wanted. There is a steep hill to the hotel of about 100 metres from the beach, but that does not suppose any problem, since the views are magnificent and in case (let´s hope not) there is a tsunami of any earthquake, that´s the safest place to be (you will find signposts telling you so). The surroundings are very beautiful and there´s a lot to buy and eat, it is a quiet place since it is at the top so you won´t have any problems when trying to sleep. We just came back from our holidays, we thoroughly reccomend this hotel, the staff is quite helpful and friendly.

We stayed in Avista in December for 1 week out of our 6 week long Asian vacation. We choose the resort based on trip advisor ratings and reviews. I have always booked our hotels that way and have never been disappointed.

We have a 5 year old and travelled with another couple with a 4 year old. I highly recommend this hotel to all travellers. The lower pool caters to families and the upper pool is quieter and caters to adults. There was some confusion with our reservations upon our arrival and we were up graded to the suites for 2 nights however it was so amazing and beautiful that we chose to pay a little extra and stay there for the week. We used all the facilities available including the spa and found it to be excellent. I am extremely fussy about cleanliness and often find that I have to make compromises when travelling in Asia but this resort met all my “North American hand sanitation” expectations!! We got a tour of the various rooms and they were all very spacious, clean, and had large flat screen TVs. The service is what sets this place apart from other leading resorts that I have been to. The people are so warm and friendly. Everyone is always willing to go out of their way to make you happy. The buffet breakfast has a huge variety for every different pallet and some absolutely amazing pastries and fruit. All the reviews about Matilda are spot on. She is a wonderful and charming host. We spoke about her popularity on Trip Advisor and I promised to keep up her famous status going even though she didn’t pay me!! :-)

Kata beach area itself is quieter and catered to families and couples. There is just enough night life for anyone looking for a bit action. The beaches are beautiful. You do have to rent chairs for $100Bhat each but once there you are served food and beverages hand and foot for cheap. We drank beers, fresh coconuts, fresh juices, and ate some of the best Thai food for very cheap.

The hill is quite steep and does give you a bit of work out. The only time it bugged me was back and forth to the beach with the kids and their stuff. I would recommend that the hotel provide more frequent shuttle service up and down the hill in the day as even the tuk tuk drivers are reluctant to go up the hill. Otherwise the location itself is great. Tucked up the hill on quiet spot yet walking distance to the beaches, shops, restaurants, and bars. We met and enjoyed a few drinks with a number of different people from all over the world staying at the resort and everyone we spoke to either came back or would come back to the resort.

Aside from meeting my and my families fussy needs of location, cleanliness, value, and quality; there is something very serene, tranquil, and magical about this resort. We will definitely be coming back to Avista. Hope to see you there Matilda!!

Went on during mid season of the yr so he price was quite attractive. I love the rooms, it was big that comes with 2 Q size bed for the lowest cat room. The Design was modem, clean and a micro wave was included! One thing i had some complain was the steep slope that i had to climb to reach the hotel. It would be good if you rent a bike or a car :)
Overall it was a very good stay at the hotel!!

From the moment we arrived at Avista just before Christmas to the moment we left just after New Year we couldn't fault the stay we had in Kata.

Our Club room was great; modern, very very spacious, had a great bathroom, great view over the sea and the bed was probably the most comfortable we have ever slept on.............!

The restaurant was spot on.......................and the breakfast was superb .........again made even better by the attentive staff.

Being just out of the town and up a hill suited us really well.......and meant we could escape from the hustle and bustle of the town and beach.

If you stay at Avista you won't be disappointed.......................a modern, well equipped, superbly maintained gardens with a great team of staff.

When we return to Phuket......................there will be no question about where we stay..........!
