I went to this hotel in March this year. Staff were very welcoming, and no, they don't speak much English but then I don't speak much Thai. The reception area clean and comfortable. Rooms were amazing! Really comfy huge bed, cleaned to a high standard everyday. Flat screen TV, massive bath and shower, lots of toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, sewing kit, cotton wool and cotton buds, washing powder - replaced everyday), hairdryer (it was FAR too hot to use it!), massive clean towels, minibar, free bottled water (replaced everyday). The pool area was lovely and clean towels are provided. Can get a bit busy mid-morning - go early or late. There is also a gym, games room and library (you can borrow books, newspapers and magazines), as well as a spa. The spa is expensive compared to what you'll pay in town but we did use it as there were offering a 50% discount. It was lovely and left me bronzed and smooth. Perfect! Breakfast is yummy, really spoilt for choice - omelettes and eggs cooked to order, pancakes, waffles, salad, fruit, plenty of juices, muffins, toast, ham, cheese, dim sum, etc. During the day if you stay around the pool the staff bring ice lollies and fruit. The pool bar is lovely but more expensive than outside of the resort. We ate at the hotel one lunchtime, the food was good but probably not worth the price, if you can be bothered to leave your sun lounger you can get cheap food in town, but sometimes, you just can't... The walk to town is about 2-3mins and to the beach about 4 mins (but you can get ice-cream on the way if you're lagging)... The supposedly 'massive' hill is not that massive, it's 30 seconds of uphill walking, but if you have mobility problems you would need to get a taxi up and down. If you don't have mobility problems you might get a little breathless...shock horror... The food in town is lovely by the way. Very cheap. I loved our hoilday and I would recommend this resort.

The Hotel's got great rooms: We were upgraded to Grand Deluxe Room and it is so spacious and well equipped we all think it is very good value for money, not to mention the pool, you could spend a whole afternoon relaxing there, feels great. While the hardware is good, the software falls short of many's expectation. Most of the staff couldn't understand English well, break down in communication then makes service unreliable. We once specifically asked for Make Up room service but were still they missed our room out. But to be fair, all the staff has got smile on their faces and are very friendly(even they don't understand you, there's still a confused smile). This hotel is still new so it is normal that there's room for improvment in services. All in all, this hotel is great if you don't demand a lot in services. Just the good hardware is worth visiting again! Hope it will get better and better!

Kata was our 3rd stop on our trip in Thailand, my boyfriend and I stayed her for 4 nights. We arrived mid afternoon and were greeted with a very yummy drink and cold towel. Check in was quick and easy, no problems whatsover and the staff were very helpful. When we were taken to our room and the bags were brought up the bell boy did loiter obviously waiting for a tip, we did give him one but did feel it was expected rather than us wanting to give it, which hadn't been the case in previous hotels.

The room definitely has the 'wow' factor, we were both blown away by how stylish and modern the room was. I couldn't believe we had 2 beds, not that there was any real need for two beds for the two of us. The bathroom was lovely, loved the big bath and the fact you could still see into the bedroom from it. The shower was great, had one of those giant shower heads and felt really good to be under! We both had very good nights sleep whilst staying here, very comfy beds!

The breakfasts each morning were great, large amount of choice. The only downside was that it was quite hot in the breakfast area as there was no air con, only fans. We didn't eat any other meals in the hotel, we ate out in Kata which had some brilliant restaurants (See review for Two Chefs).

The pool area was always quite busy, almost seemed as though there weren't quite enough loungers for people, we saw quite a few people looking round for spares. It was a nice quiet area though, although the pool did feel quite cold.

As other reviewers have said, the hotel is situated at the top of a very steep hill. When we first arrived and were driven up I didn't think it looked too bad as it wasn't very long. However, when we came back that night after having had food, we found out how tough it was! Even though its only a short distance its very steep and a real struggle in the heat! I would agree with others here and say if you have children who are in push chairs or have mobility issues then do not stay here.

For the 4 nights we were in Kata it rained and was stormy each evening around 5/5.30pm for about an hour/hour and a half. The hotel did not seem to cope well with this, the first floor was flooded everywhere and the staff were having to clear out the rooms on that floor. We were on the 5th floor and were fine, although the windows were leaking on our floor but this didn't cause a massive issue. I would suggest booking a higher floor if staying there so you can avoid any flooding.

We really enjoyed Kata, there are plenty of shops, places to eat and drink. We didn't go to Kata beach, we went to Kata Noi as everyone on here had said it was really beautiful. We were slightly disappointed when we arrived, people had said how nice this beach was but to us it didn't seem anything special. It may be because we had just come from Phi Phi where the beaches were amazing, but we weren't blown away by the beach. We did have a massage on the beach which was very cheap and good.

Following the advise on here we hired a driver for the morning, Daj, to take us around Phuket. Unfortunately Daj had to leave us part way through as his wife was sick, but he handed us over to Wandee who was fantastic, really friendly and funny! I can't find her contact details at the moment but if anyone wants them message me and I can send them to you when I find her card. We went to several viewpoints, Big Buddha, Wat Chalong and Phuket Zoo. This was a really good morning and great to see the sights. However, if you love animals do not go to Phuket Zoo! Wandee convinced us to go here instead of Phuket Town as she said it was amazing and would be more fun. For me, the zoo was really upsetting, the animals were obviously not being treated well and had very small cages. The way they were being pulled around and being made to pose for pictures with people was also upsetting. I wouldn't recommend going there to anyone.

We would stay at this hotel again as, despite the hill, it was in a good location as it was out of the hustle and bustle but a 5 min walk to everything. We didn't quite fall in love with this hotel, both my boyfriend and I felt there was something we couldn't quite put our finger on that made us slightly unsure about whether we loved it, sorry thats vague! But as we said, we would stay there again and would definitely recommend it!
