This hotel was defiantly worth a visit, everything about the place was a very high standard.
Staff are really friendly and helpful, food was gorgeous and the rooms are very modern. service was excellent and the pool bar is lovely. We found the lunches etc very reasonable. The location is great too but there is a hill just beside the hotel but if you don't fancy the walk there is hotel transport to beaches and Patong. Thai cooking class was brillaint chef was great and gave useful tips.

No, we have to give this place the thumbs down. My husband booked it for us on agoda, after our travel agent Andaman Sky had recommended somewhere else (wish he'd listened to them) - he insisted we stay here because somebody at his office had told him that this is a good place. I didn’t like it much, the architecture is boringly office-modern and the resort isn’t near the beach. There was nowhere good to go out that was easy to get to, so with our 2 kids we felt pretty marooned. Not a family hotel.

We spent a week around Christmas in Avista hotel. This totally met our expectations. Staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating to our special requests. Breakfast was good too; not mind-blowing but definitely adequate; omelets were great. Place was very clean. There were only 2 standard pools so nothing too huge but just fine. Gym was tiny and very basic. Overall feeling of the actual hotel building was not too great from outside but actual rooms were very nice and spacious.

I found location to be one of the best things in this hotel. Despite the hill to climb to get to the hotel, the location was great as it was enough on the side street to be very quiet and peaceful but still only short walking distance from the shops, restaurants and beach.

Definitely would recommend this hotel for those who are looking for better than average hotel with perfect location.

Room Tip: The first room we got when arriving very early in the morning was definitely meant for temporary stay as the window was facing a wall; this room had very bad sound insulation and we heard everything from corridor. When got the proper room we requested as quiet as they have and got one in the end of the corridor; this was a perfect option and noise from corridor was no issue anymore. The higher up you are the better you see the ocean. We stayed in 2nd floor facing the pool and it was nice.

We spent a wonderful week in this amazing hotel during the first week of our holiday to Thailand a year ago.

We were rather exhausted after a long flight with less sleep than I'd have hoped for, but from the second we arrived at Avista we felt well taken care of! A fruity and tasty welcome drink, the receptionist took care of everything, while we just lounged about on a bed/couch/comfortable seat-thingie in the reception and after a few minutes our room was ready. We had a room on the second floor and while I imagine the view might be wonderful higher up, it was lovely to see the pool through the tropical trees.

The room was spacious, clean and modern, with a big flat screen and awesome blue lights you could turn on in the evening. All the people working at the hotel are gracious and kind, always with a smile. The only problem we encountered was that the A/C stopped working for a couple of hours, but they fixed it quickly and were very nice when we approached them about the problem.

The breakfast is amazing! Varied, lots of different fruits and vegetables, hot and cold dishes and great chefs ready to whip up any kind of egg you're in the mood for. Lunch is also great, the thai food is really good and I'd also recommend the fresh fruit drinks they blend together, as it's important to get a lot of liquid in the heat.

Towels were also comfortable and the housekeeping staff were quick and friendly. I wish there was room for a few more sunbeds around the pool, as they get taken EARLY in the morning.

I would absolutely chose to return to this hotel and would gladly recommend it to anyone else.

Oh and please pay no mind to the people complaining about the hill down to the beach, I was imagining a terrible incline that lasted eons after reading the reviews on the site, it takes two minutes to walk up, and honestly, with all the good food down there, climbing a tiny hill a few times a day is probably a good thing :)

Spent one week at the hotel around new years 2013, travelled as a couple.
