We had a wonderful experience at Avista. We just got back from Phuket and we are really looking forward to go back and, if we'll ever go back, we will certainly go back to Avista hotel.
As we arrived they made us rest with a cocktail and a flower bracelet: just wonderful! Then, as our room was not yet ready - it was 2.00 pm and it would have been ready at 3.00 pm-, they offered us a good a la carte lunch at their wonderful restaurant. Room was big, clean and quiet. As we were celebrating our anniversary, they surprised us with a yummy chocolate cake, a basket of fruit and flowers: wonderful. The hotel staff was incredibly gentle, smiling and very, very helpful. We couldn't have asked for more. Breakfast spread was incredibly good. We also had dinner at the restaurant the night that they organized a dinner buffet for only 499 baht per person: very good!! Every night they have different choices of dinner: buffet, bbq, etc. The hotel is at the top of the hill, but it provides a free shuttle bus to/from Kata beach and Patong. Also, the road to get there is steep but very short. I highly recommend to go there!

We really enjoyed our stay in Avista. Our room was so excellent and beautiful and there was great view from our balcony. The hotel was in great location even if it were in top of a hill. The staff was so friendly and kind. The pool and the restaurang was also great. We think this is one of the best hotels in Kata beach and we would recommend the hotel for those who travel to Phuket.

Loved this hotel. Rooms were large, bathroom was very spacious, balcony had lots of room. One thing missing in the room was drawer space. We did speak to the customer service lady about this and within a few hours a unit had been bought to our room with shelving for our bits and pieces. (what service). Pool areas were lovely no trouble getting a sun bed,but be aware it can get a little slippery around the small pool. Breakfast was always good, plenty of choice and always fresh. Staff without exception were amazing, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. A long sandy beach wasn't far away, just a short walk. Shops, restaurants and bars again just a short walk away. Would highly recommend the Wine Connection restaurant and bar. Good choice of food both Thai and european and lovely wine all at a good price and with good service. Lastly the hill up and down to the hotel, yes it is steep for part of it but it's only 200 meters and only part of that is steep so it's not that bad. I think the humidity makes it feel worse. Do not let that put you off.
Would recommend a visit.

Room Tip: We stayed in a club room over looking the sea. It was on the fifth floor. Could here the taxi driver...

We are stayed here just only one night but the really good thing is we got upgrade to Grand Deluxe room. In room amenities were excellence, large room, big bed, huge bathroom. Hotel amenities also miss our expectation such as pools, swim up bar, fitness room, game room included table tennis and pool table. I love everything here the location quite good and not too far from shopping street (Kata road), restaurants, Kata and Karon beach, a lot of activities you can get from this area also not too much away from Phuket town. The staffs are very friendly especially at the reception and restaurant (breakfast). I love the two step swimming pool, at the upstairs pool are huge for swimming and the downstair pool will give you the feeling like a rain shower

Totally I love everything at the Avista Phuket Resort & Spa and will be back one again. Thank you all guys here the Avista team for one night good memorable.

I took the opportunity to book this hotel when requested to attend my nephews wedding.
Although it is not situated on Kata Beach it certainly is less than 5 minutes walk.
The staff are nothing less than superb even going that extra mile ensuring that I had a button hole of national flowers made up free of charge.
My room, which was large by any standard, was on the fifth floor and had a view overlooking the sea.
During the heat of the afternoon, the guests who were surrounding one of three pools were offered a selection of fresh fruit free of charge and bottles of water were placed daily in the rooms which were also complimentary.
The buffet breakfast was a sight to behold with everything imagineable to eat being presented in a colourful and appertizing display.
I must make a particular note about the chef who would cook the eggs which ever way required with such speed and dexterity and always with such a charming smile.
James martin could not have cooked an omelette quicker!
The one and only negative aspect to this hotels location is without doubt the extremely steep
hill commonly refered to as Cardiac Hill!
However, there is always a rank of TUK TUKs waiting at the bottom of the hill ready to assist any guest who wishes to accend this one in three hill.

Room Tip: Avista club rooms above third floor are preferential

Stayed here for two weeks in the end of March. We loved the resort, and the Kata area as well. And here are some of the reasons:

- Rooms were large, modern and well kept, and the aircondition is the best one we have ever experienced. It cooled the room in a very short time and the fan speed were adjustable, so it did not make much noice during nights. The control panel by the bed for lights and aircondition was perfect. There were even an optional sexy blue light strip along the wall, for those who like that special atmosphere of blue light.
- Nice details in he room service, got a plate of chocolate one day, burthdaykake++ on my girlfriends birthday, and even toiletpaper were scattered daily.
- The hotel had a policy against reserving of sunbeds, and removed belongings if sunbeds were left for a long time. This was very convenient! High five for that policy! The first week we got sunbeds where we wanted without problem, after breakfast, but the next week the hotel was full and it got a bit harder to get sunbeds in the sun - but people moved around so if you pay attention you will get one where you want. (The staff could paid more attention to reserved sunbeds in the afternoon).
- Awesome breakfast! Great alternatives for those into cakes and pancakes as well as for those more health conscious. The strawberry jam tasted awesome, and eggs cooked the way you want. Lots of fruit and a nice salad++. We looked forward to breakfast every morning.
- There was a very nice atmosphere within the resort, and the staff brought complimentary refreshments to the sunbeds (fruit on a stick and orange ice-sticks) almost every day.
- The staf were helpful, attentional and friendly, and communications worked out. Of course, like everywhere else in Thailand, not every staff member had a large english vocabulary, but when it was too difficult someone better stepped in.
- The resort was well kept. There were always some gardeners or caretakers around the facilities.
- The spa had some nice time-limited offers that madde it a bit less expencive (such as two threatments for price of one) - and it was a lot more luxury than those on the streets.
- Kids club in the far back of the hotel, away from us wanting to relax in peace by the pools.
- Value was ok.
- Great architecture, both exterior and interior. Details from well known designers. The restaurant
/wine bar and reseption area was lavish and fine.
- The gym was nice, with nice view to the pool. Large windows made it feel spacious even though it was very small. Complementary drinking water was convenient.
- Library had a lot of books for us scandinavians.
- Top quality snacks and drinks from the pool bar, served by the sunbeds if asked for.

If anything negative to be said:

- In the official hotel websites you can read that there is daily two cans of beer complimentary in the room (under room information - the first/standard room). This was not true. When I asked in the reseption they told me it only applies to those who book room through their official site. This is however not mentioned in the website. A bit disappointing, and therefore we bought beer for the room in the local store instead of buying from the minibar 10 times the price.
- The wireless network was very unstable, all over the resort, as many guests have mentioned in earlier reviews. There is a lot of routers, so the coverage was not the problem.
- Some older children splashed a lot of water on our books and belongings jumping into the pools, many times during our stay. This is actually not allowed, but the crew did not seem to care. Anyway, the parents should be the ones to tell their kids not to make inconveniance to other guests. Shame on you unattentional parents.
- Sorry to say, but russian guests stood out as noisy and inconsiderate to their surroundings. The first week we did not notice them at all, but buses of russians arrived to Kata district the last week, and it was noticeable. Anyway there were not that many russians in this hotel, and of course it does not apply to all of them. The staff should however crack down on insipid behaviour as for example an oversized woman laying topless on a sunbed in the shadows, all day. We could see many guests being very atentive to this woman, wrinkling their noses. Oversized or not, topless sunbathing is prohibited by law in Thailand, we were told, and this was disgusting (and it is not even sunbathing when staying in the shadows).

All in all the negatives are details, and the hotel gets a full score from us! We will definitely come back if we have the chance! We will recommend staying at avista to friends heading for Phuket.

The hill is manageable for most people, and it makes the feeling of getting into the chilled room even better! Dont worry about the taxi mafia. Use taxis elsewhere instead, not far to walk. And Kata is the place to be if you want to chill out!

This hotel is very modern and has great amenities, including pools, swim up bar, a spa and gym. Breakfast was buffet style and was just ok. Other reviews regarding the taxi mafia and steepness of the hill to get to the hotel are correct. As it is a bit of a drive between Kata, Patong, Karon, etc we found ourselves taking taxis quite often and having to spend more than we probably would have if we stayed elsewhere. This became an issue particularly on the way back to the airport as there was no way we were going down the hill with our luggage. As such, we were stuck with the taxi mafia and their prices.

Dear Carey W,
Sawasdee Krab!
Greetings from Avista Phuket Resort & Spa!
We thank you for giving us an opportunity to serve you. We are pleased to note that you had a memorable stay with us and enjoyed the resort facilities.
Kindly accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused to you during your stay with us regarding the taxis operators. We would like to explain that there taxi union in Phuket to enhance employment scheme amongst the locals. The union has designated separate areas and zones for different operators to ply their taxis. So a taxi operator of destination A cannot operate at destination B and vice versa. It has been a tradition that hotels will take service from them and hence we are unable to operate our own travel desk /taxi service. We would like to assure you that we along with other hotels have appealed to the government official to resolve this issue to ensure that our guest are not put through any inconvenience.
We would also like to point out that our resort is situated in an area which is Tsunami evacuation point however it is only a five minutes walking distance from the Kata beach which makes it a safe location yet easily accessible to the beach..
Once again thank you for your compliments on the resort facilities as my team and I stay committed to deliver to our guests’ satisfaction. We look forward to welcome you again in the near future.
