“Baray Villa is the highlight of the holiday!”
Reviewed October 18, 2010

We had a short 3D2N holiday in Phuket. This is a purely relaxation holiday and therefore, we decided to invest in a good accomodation. I was choosing between Malisa Ville and Baray Villa. In the end, the latter won on price (very rarely) and newness of property. Right from the entrance of the property, the surrounding gives a jungle-like feel and has a lot of greenery. The villa has two storeys. For those who has problem using stairs, please take note. Check-in was fuss free and took place in the villa itself. Sweet lemongrass welcome drinks and cool towels were provided while we were checking in the villa. The butler, M showed us around the villa to familiarise us with the property. Please pay attention as there are many switches in the villa. Jacuzzi is big but the water was a bit too cool for liking. The water in the jacuzzi is linked to the private pool. So, don't expect warm water unless it is a very hot afternoon. Private pool is rather small. Two floats are provided but you can't maneuver at all when the two floats are in the water. Private pool is linked to the main pool outside. There is a gate that separates the private and main pool. However, don't expect complete privacy. Part of the private pool can be seen from the main pool. Sunbathing in nude is strictly prohibited. With regard to private pool, Malisa Ville wins in this respect. Main pool is quiet. There was no one at all even though seven villas were occupied at that time; so, we had the whole pool to ourself. Oasis is the name of the pool bar and prices are pretty reasonable. The beach may look near on the map; however, ClubMed blocks the way to the beach. You have to take a detour. Turn left once you reached the end of Ket Kwan and walk for another 400m. Beach was not in a great condition when we were there (3 Oct). All in all, this is an excellent accomodation at a very competitive price. It has met and exceeded expectation. Suitable for honeymooners or couples. Trivial: A different star sign is allocated for each villa. Eg, taurus, aries etc. You may want to request for a room that has your star sign.

This is my second stay in a Baray Villa and it was in every way as good as the first time. This hotel is a real hidden gem. Step into the entrance straight from the road and you enter a true oasis. The swimming pool is edged by the most beautiful plants and trees and you feel that you are swimming in an undiscovered lake with an amazing waterfall at one end.

To top it all the staff and service are exemplary!

I shall definitely be returning for another stay.

From the moment you step into the resort it is like being in another world. You leave all the madness and mayhem behind you as you experience the fresh scent of lemongrass and the peaceful sound of running water. The grounds are beautifully kept. The staff always friendly and willing to help in any way. The villas themselves are simply outstanding. we have stayed in many hotels throughout asia and the pacific and have never experienced the opulence and luxury that is The Baray Villa. Having a butler was a new experience for us and Dan was amazing! From serving us at breakfast to making restaurant reservations, nothing was too much trouble.

Would we go back to The Baray Villa? We wouldn't go anywhere else in Phuket!

48 hours later, we are in withdrawal from The Baray Villa.

We upgraded from a room in the Sawasdee Village to a Baray Villa for the majority of our 10 night holiday in Kata Beach. (The Baray Villas are a secret enclave of Sawasdee Village).

From the moment you walk through the spectacular entrance to the villas you are en-tranced.

There are only 14, stunning, 2 storey Villas with their own private plunge pools and direct access from that to the main Baray (meaning man made canal) pool.
Beautifully designed and furnished, this High Thai and Morroccan inspired sancutary is a place for couples to escape the madness of life and re-centre.

With access to the Baray Day Spa and a bedroom direct from a Home Beautiful Magazine this is a place to relax and unwind.

Having a butler was a new experience and Dan did a great job. Thank you. We chose to eat breakfasts in the Sawasdee Restaurant (as well as some dinners) as the food was always fresh and the service attentive. Again thanks to Moo, Porn and all there.

Am concerned writing all this as secretly we'd love to keep this gem to ourselves - but let's not be greedy!

One of the best accommodation venues we have visited worldwide and one we WILL return to soon.

We miss you already!!!

I've just returned from here, after a week-long holiday with my family. The accommodation is stunning. A jacuzzi that opens out from your room to a private pool, butler service (which was a first for us!) and such beautiful furnishings and decorations! We loved it.

The resort is secluded (you could walk past almost without noticing) and a 10 minute walk from the beach. The local area is quiet, which could be good or bad depending on your point of view. For us, it was a good thing.

My wife would recommend the spa, and the food here is excellent, proper Thai with western bits on the menu too.

Our visit was spoiled slightly by some 'confusion' over the final room rate which meant we had to pay significantly more than we had initially expected. Nothing underhand here, but caused by a lack of clarity in paperwork and communication breakdown. Despite this, the hotel tried to remedy the situation and I would still recommend it.

One final point. We were the only famly with young children here, and although the staff were very welcoming, I got the feeling that families with young children aren't really their target market. If this is likely to bother you, look elsewhere.

Never been serviced by personal Butler before. Impressed with in room details such as Ice bucket two times a day, welcome drink and fruits, private Jacuzzi private pool connected to public pool and salted water treatment instead of chlorine make me feel wanna stay in pool all day long. Every conner of hotel can be picture like in magazine places. Enjoy enjoy holiday. Must try it !!!!
