“Amazing is an understatement!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

My husband and I stayed in one of the villas - Leo. The resort was breathtaking, the pictures on the website do not do it justice.
As an ex-travel agent I have had the pleasure of staying in some of the worlds top hotels, Baray Villas is my favourite by far.
The villa itself was spectacular, set over two floors with Thai and Middle Eastern deco, the worlds biggest bed, indoor and outdoor showers, end of bed foot spas, jacuzzi, private pool leading into villas only pool. Yes, the water in the pool is on the cooler side but who wants a hot pool when it's 32c!
The main pool area is also very nice, it has a great swim up bar with a lovely host ready to make you amazing mock/cocktails.
The Spa was also amazing, included in our package were several divine treatments which we took advantage of.
The restaurant food was delicious and good value for money.
All in all it's the perfect place to relax and enjoy the wonders of Thai hospitality.

We arrived at The Baray Villa nearly 12 midnight after getting picked up from the airport by the hotel car (4x4) which was part of their special offer so we didn’t have to wait for a taxi or even stand long as the driver was waiting for us as soon as we exited the airport.

Upon reaching, Tuktuk greeted us kindly and he checked us in swiftly and then pointed out the main locations around the premises (being the spa and the restaurant for breakfast) and then he took us to the villa where he gave us a full helpful tour.

We stayed for three nights and the villa is truly gorgeous and it’s very peaceful and serene, the beauty of the jacuzzi plus the private pool area is stunning, it’s quite a different world from the busy streets just outside of the hotel premises!

We got fresh fruits daily + ice refill and the villa had a selection of tea and coffee available along with the mini bar + snack items, there were plenty of books to read in a variety of languages as well as magazines, and they even had DVD’s available to borrow from the reception. The villa was amazing and I loved that they supplied a beach bag with towels and slippers to use, they even had a printout that had the staff’s pictures and names as a reference list, it’s their attention to detail that shows how much they cater to their guests.

There was internet available in the room (Via the MAC TV + Wifi) however the only downside was that I found it hard to connect to the wifi on my phone as it wasn’t always able to pickup the signal, but apart from that, the net worked quite fine using it on the connected TV screen.

Also they had an air purifier in the room and as an asthmatic person it was quite a breath of fresh air! (Pun intended)

I been to many hotels but it’s the first time I ever seen one use it!

The staff were available around the clock and they were all quite helpful and assisted us with all of our requests, they booked a lovely island cruise trip for us and even kindly helped sort out our travel booking changes in the last minute!!

And the restaurant staff took great care to cater to my food allergies and to our religious food preferences.

(Sadly I didn’t note down their names, but they were all so lovely and kind and we didn’t face any issues with any of them!)

We got a coupon for every night’s stay based on their special offer (we stayed for three nights), so the first copon we used for the airport pick up and the second was for a lovely set lunch meal and the third was for couples massage that was quite blissful and a perfect finish to a wonderful stay. They even gave us a coupon for a welcome drink to redeem since we arrived after the bar closed but unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to redeem it, however we got a lovely photo frame with our picture as a souvenir!

I highly recommend it and we enjoyed the villa so much we didn’t really want to leave and go out, it’s a beautiful romantic place for couples to enjoy and perfect as a honeymoon spot!

Only concern I would say is towards elderly couples as the bedroom is located on the top floor, there are a few stairs to climb, so I can see it being difficult for people who have knee or leg problems, but apart from that I am sure any elderly couple would enjoy just as much!

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Virgo" villa, we didn't really see the other villas but I thought th...

My wife and I booked this great resort as the last stop before the airport home in a fabulous custom tour to the region put together for us by Andaman Sky. We also went to Baan Kantian see hotel on Koh Lanta and the Centara Anda Dhevi in Ao Nang.

We liked the Baray Villa the best of all of these places. Even though we ddin’t enjoy Phuket much (too over-developed). The Baray Villa’s location is great, the serrice from all the staff was genuinely friendly, the breakfast was good, I particularly liked swimming out of our living room to the pool bar. This is a great resort, but in a location that is now best avoided.

I had chosen to stay here because of the tripadvisor ratings. A friend had been a guest here and highly recommended me to try the villas. I did not regret it at all, the villas are absoloutely stunning and you are living in luxury with your own personal assistant to call on any time of the day. We had breakfast that was included with the stay brought to our villa at least 3-4 times. Thanks Em for the great service. They provide a lot and even inflatable air beds for the pool. You have to try out the spa service although it is frequently booked up. I like they offer a lot of high tech equipment such as the free wifi and Mac. All the staff are polite and pleasant and very helpful. I also like to mention that the travel agency across the street from this hotel was very good. One of the highlights of the stay was booking activities to do were so easy because of Kate travel agency. They have a lot of advice and were highly accomodating to our last minute bookings or changes. It is great they allow you take towels in case we go to the beach. If they could off small bottle of sun screen like how they off mosquito repellent that would be even better. The location is close to Kata beach and I am glad we did not stay in Patong where a lot of the questionable night life was located. I came to Phuket to enjoy the day activities such as scuba diving, phi phi island, tigers and this was hands down one of the best places I've stayed at.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the North Star Villa. Furthest to the main entrance and has extra patio space and...

Omg! This place is gorgeous. Even more wonderful than the photos can show. Our villa was breathtaking. The attention to detail on the property and in the villa itself was wonderful. The staff was excellent and attentive. The internet was spotty and the pool cold - but those were minimal issues when surrounded by heaven. The whole property was incredible with so many small details taken care of. We both loved the breakfast buffet. The food was tasty and appreciated the room service almost every day. It was a blast swimming up to the private bar in what was almost an private pool since it was empty almost always.

This is perfect for a honeymoon or lovers who want to spoil each other.

Room Tip: And end room furthest from the entrance would be the most private.

Very nice staff, charming place and wonderful restaurant and spa : it makes a big difference in such a touristic place... water is a bit cold indeed, but we weren't disturbed by mosquitos and overall amenities are great.
Again, the spa was really worth it, and the restaurant is fantastic : unexpensive, great food and excellent staff !
Quality comes at a price, but we were glad to enjoy a unique moment there.

The Baray Villa truly lived up to our expectation and more. The decor is simply breathtaking and every minor detail is awe-inspiring. This is assuming you are not a zen-lover, of course, as you'd be completely disappointed and overwhelmed if you are.

I loved the courtyard and the exclusivity of the Baray area, with a huge door barring outsiders from entry. The Al-Majlis (courtyard) is wonderful too, though I think it's sad that it is not fully utilised.

There were some drawbacks, such as the pool water was just too cold to swim in, even in the day with the hot sun beating down on Phuket. It was also a little dirty with dry leaves and twigs floating around and the depth was minimum (1.2m deepest). Hence, we did not utilise the pool as much as we normally would have. Also, the closet doors were dusty, sending dust motes floating down each time we opened or closed it. I would have prefered a water spray in the WC too, but there was none though there were sprays in the public toilets.

That being said, the rest of the room and the service was pretty excellent. The bathtub on the top floor is huge and can fit 2! They did not provide bath foam or bath salts but I find that the shower foam does the trick just as well. We also really enjoyed the footbath at the foot of the HUGE bed. The bed is far bigger than a king-sized one and can easily fit a family! They also provided so many pillows, which were all of the perfect consistency ala goldilocks. This is so rare as most hotels I've been to are so stingy with pillows and I keep having to bug them for more. Here, no problems at all! I didn't even need to 'steal' cushions from the couches.

The hotel is not on the beach, but you can easily get there either on foot which would take you around 10-20 mins depending on your speed or by the hourly free shuttle service that runs from 9am to 6pm. We never used the shuttle, but always preferred walking down as you get to shop or window shop walking down all the shops down the road.

There are many shops just outside. Turn left and there are fewer ones, but right would bring you towards the beach and, hence, towards more shops. There is a massage shop right outside that is fairly satisfactory and many others down the road - both 'clean' and 'seedy'. Pharmacies, clothes, money changers, restaurants all are within a stone's throw.

All in all, we had a great time there and would definitely love to return.
