Just back after 10 night stay in the villas can not praise the service or quality enough
if you can afford the extra for the villa you will not regret it if you cant you will spend alot of time wishing you had spent the extra.
the staff at all levels are attentive without being obtrusive
one tip if you leave by the front entrance directly opposite the taylors shop will wash and iron your laundry for 60 bht a kilo 10 days washing and ironing in the suit case ready for home less than ten pound!!!!!
The lady who runs the shop is a complete star

Room Tip: More privacy if you dont have the 2 end villas

The Baray Villa is without a doubt a beautiful and luxurious place. My husband and I stayed here for two nights and wish we had stayed longer. The private pool was perfect for floating around and the villa had every amenity you'd ever need. It was a very relaxing stay and while the villa was very luxurious, it felt homey. It is definitely worth the upgrade! I'd return to Phuket just to stay here again.

We have been lucky enough to have been about a bit and have stayed at some lovely hotels around the world. Such as the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok to The Beverley Hills Hotel, California, but this place takes some beating.

The attention to detail is amazing! Everywhere you look there is that Thai and oriental feel about the place. It is all very compact and although in some parts, it does look a little jaded, this does somehow add to its appeal.

We were encouraged to stay from the reviews we had read on TripAdvisor. For those of you who may consider staying here, I'll try and give you some details that others may have neglected to mention.

Firstly, if your getting a taxi to the Resort, make sure you ask for Sawasdee Village, not Baray Villa. As our cabby took forever trying to find the place!

The second point that we were unsure of, was that although the resort is all in one place, the Sawasdee Village and Baray Villas are featured on TripAdvisor as two separate resorts, they are not. As you enter the Resort, you go through the Sawasdee Village part to get to the Baray Villas. The Sawasdee Village is basically a lovely pool with number of hotel rooms (cabins) that have a bathroom and balcony. The Baray Villas are separated from the Village by a fantastic pair of huge doors. The Baray Villas are 14 separate buildings, each being two storeys high. The lounge & pool area are downstairs and the bedroom and bathroom is upstairs. Each Villa looks onto the swimming pool that is for the use of Villa residences only.

From reading the other reviews, you will know what to expect when you arrive, so I will try to give you some information that others may not have mentioned.
The Villa we stayed in was number 201 'Moon', next to the waterfall. Opposite was a Villa named 'Sun' and that was quite apt really, as that is the only villa that seems to catch the sun. My wife used their sunbeds (with the Resorts consent), as it was not being used at the time. If you want the sun, you need to use the Sawasdee Village pool or float on a lilo in the sunny part of pool that is for Baray Villas residences only, who are able to use both swimming pools.

If you like the beach, the one at Kata Beach is quite hard to find! There is a wall that runs parallel to the beach for quite a long way. If you look on a map, the beach doesn't seem to be very far away as the crow fly's. However, the wall runs forever, so be aware. The best way to get to it is to come out of the Sawsadee Village/Baray Villa entrance, turn right, down to the junction and turn left. It's about half a mile up there on your right, by the Kata Beach Resort. I believe the Resort has a shuttle bus service to the beach, however, we never used it.

The Resort restaurant is great, however, if you want something different, there are loads of other places to each. The one we enjoyed the most was called 'The Opera' I believe. That was somewhere near the Kata Beach Resort.

Taxi rates are reasonable and if you fancy a more lively evening out, get a cab to Bangla Road, Patong. It shouldn't cost you more than 400 baht, so barter if they want more. There are loads of market type stalls selling watches, dvd's, clothing etc. and the prices seem far cheaper in Patong than in Kata Beach.

One more point, as there is internet access in the Villa, it is possible to sort out your on-line check in for the flight home. However, you need to e-mail the boarding pass to the front office. Check with reception first and don't just take the digital bar code, you need the boarding pass.

If you can afford it, stay here. It is a very unique place to stay. Go on spoil yourself.

Room Tip: If you can, go for either 'Sun' or 'Moon' Villas. They are by the waterfall and the...

My partner and I stayed for 6 nights at the end of November and we both really enjoyed the entire experience.

The villas are very private and huge! They are a perfect blend of traditional Thai architecture with modern elements thrown in such as flat screen 42" LCDs in the bedroom and living area with Apple internet connectivity. Free WIFI is available for your own device too - with a really good signal strength.

The oversized king bed was probably the biggest I have ever slept in and extremely comfortable. The full size bathroom is great, twin sinks, huge bath tub and the rain shower head was awesome.

Downstairs the living area is a great comfortable space, from here you can access the in room jacuzzi which leads to your private outdoor pool and that then leads to the main pool which can only be accessed by villa guests. Outdoors you have a small but perfectly usable deck with two sun lounges, the outdoor shower with hot and cold water supply was great after a swim.

Breakfast was a real treat, really nice fresh selection of food to choose from, eggs are cooked to order, scrambled, poached or fried. Breakfast was never over crowded, there was plenty of room to relax and kick start your day.

The resort is tranquil, beautiful and peaceful, we felt like we were the only guests staying there. Located in the Kata beach area, about 15 minutes drive south of Patong, we loved the relaxed vibe of Kata, Patong is far too over crowded and busy.

Finally a note on the staff who were all amazingly attentive and accommodating. From the moment we were met at Phuket International Airport, a seamless check in, right throughout our stay and our departure, all the staff were wonderful.

Would I stay here again - overwhelmingly YES!

My Partner and i are both big fans of the Baray Villa
we just love it
we have just got back from our latest stay
The villa's are kept in amazing shape, fantastic huge huge bed biggest i have seen in our travels
we were staying with our family this time and they were very well looked after in the villas as well
They have listened to some of the reviews about breakfast and we for the 7 days did not have the same items again and again which was great
Booking on the hotel website for the villas gives you great deals like free airport, thai set dinner, massages which really makes the villas affordable
return guests get very well looked after as well with other free items! so it makes you feel really special
well worth the price
the spa and pool were also great because you only have 14 villas most of the time your the only one in the pool!
Great Staff and Management! - they make you feel at home
we will be back in July!

The villas are quite luxurious. They are two stories, with the bedroom upstairs and the living area downstairs. There is a large bathroom upstairs and a half bathroom downstairs. The small pool area outside each villa opens into a massive pool that is easily 200 feet long, lined on either side with the villas. At one end is a quiet bar and at the other, a lovely fountain. Everything is first rate--the food is amazing, and we had an expert Thai massage here. The staff is also quite gracious. I didn't see anything that compared to this spot in Phuket. Don't worry about going off the hotel property—you aren't missing a thing!

The Baray Villas and Sawasdee Village are an amazing private paradise! Lush greenery and amazing architectural detail please your senses the moment you arrive. There's a feeling of complete tranquility from the sounds of softly flowing hypnotic water fountains to pleasant aromatic ambiance. It's a peaceful sense of complete satisfaction. The cheery smiling faces of the staff and their willingness and ability to please you are impressive. Breakfast is fantastic, especially the made to order eggs and pancakes that you'll look forward to each morning. The spa experience was second to none, we've never had a better more relaxing massage. The villa was incredible with a rain shower to die for and a huge comfortable bed making it home away from home. Be sure to relax in the lounge near the reception and experience the soothing sounds of the Bose radio while swinging and gazing at the lighted gold dome ceiling. You truly feel like your the only two people at the resort in a remote paradise, never crowded or loud. Rarely did we see many other guests. The staff helped arrange everything and even sent me a "get well" card and flower arrangement when I was sick, "Khap Khun Krap"! M and the front desk were wonderful, professional and very knowledgable from start to finish. You'll know your at the perfect place as soon as you arrive and unfortunately when it's time to leave. Truly an absolutely amazing remote paradise!
