“Unnerving response and lack of service”
Reviewed November 29, 2011

Very unnerving response to emails. Quiet agressive and have a phone contact that never answers. I wouild be very dubious about transferrring any monies to this hotel.

Room Tip: suggest you try elsehwere

We spent a fabulous 11 nights at Kata Gardens. The friendly staff made our stay very relaxed and nothing was ever a problem. What amazed us was that the property was heavily booked but we rarely saw anyone else. The tropical garden setting is tranquil and beautiful with many birds.

We quickly made the spacious apartment our home away from home. There was plenty of space for our family (including two teenagers) to relax and unwind. The covered balcony was well utilised - the day bed a favourite.

The apartment was well appointed with stylish, comfortable furnishings. The kitchen had everything you could want (except a coffee plunger, we happily donated). Although we didn't cook (chose to experience the local cuisines) it would have been easy to do so if that is your thing.

The roof top pool was awesome and we enjoyed many early morning and late night dips and pre-dinner drinks under the gazebo, watching magnificent sunsets.

The lagoon pool was a pleasant relief from the midday heat. Our friends stayed in 2A so we we had it all covered pool-wise,

We were sad when our holiday came to an end but have many wonderful memories. We would return to Kata Gardens Apartments in a flash.

We booked Kata Gardens as we wanted our family to be in the same room esp with children following us to Phuket. We booked the 2 bedroom penthouse apartment during our stay(unit 2C). We were there from 22nd sept - 25th sept 2011. Apart from the confusion before we reached kata Gardens( no one waited for us at the airport even though we oreadi requested), it was immediately forgotten once we reached the room. The room was so spacious and comfortable. Even the kitchen area was complete with utensils.Very good if one were to stay longer and wish to cook themselves.

Along with the trip is my 2 young daughters. One is only 2 months old whereas the other is 2 years old. My 2 months old daughter simply sleep throughout the nite in the cot provided by Kata Gardens. Kata Gardens really make us feel at home but more comfortable. My baby also like it when we lie her down on the day bed at the balcony as it's windy out there. As for my 2 year old, she loved the private pool so much that she doesn't want to go back. She also slept soundly on the king size bed.Never thought it will be easy goin on a holiday with kids.

I personally love the day bed at the balcony. It's just so relaxing to chill there. We even had our meals at the top deck where the private pool is. The view is just breath-taking.
All in all thank you Kata garden for making our stay a memorable one. We miss the apartment a lot the moment we were back in singapore.

We have stayed at Kata Gardens a number of times and always had a restful and luxurious experience. The units are spacious and furnished with ever last mod con. The gardens in which the units are situated are luxuriant and well maintained. Because only a portion of the whole number of units is ever available for rental you very rarely have to share the pool or have problems with noisy inconsiderate neighbours. The manager, Ajarn, is helpful and does his best to ensure all guests get the holiday they are wanting. The distance from Katanoi beach is not so far that a car is required but Kata beach is a little more challenging. All the units are nice but the penthouse units, with their private roof top pools, are magnificent.

We did not hesitate to book our accommodation at Kata Gardens in July, after staying there in March mainly due to a couple of reasons.

1) The apartment truly represents what you would expect a vacation home in Phuket to be. The furnishing was all teak and warm, with lots of greenery, and a lovely view of the Kata beach. The huge bathrooms were a definitely bonus, as you felt you could take your time to enjoy the relaxing bath time. The balcony was fantastic, with ample space for a nice breakfast, and a huge daybed to read in the afternoons.

2) The location was great, as it was near the beach (within walking distance), yet not too near. You could thus get away from the crowd (although there wasn't nouch of one in July), and retreat to your apartment.

What would have made the place even better :

1) Some of the wood along the staircases seem to be rotting, so some upgrading works would make the place even better.

2) There are lots of slopes (not too steep though), and some stairs (if you are not on the ground floor). This could be an issue for those who are not very mobile. However, the security guards were always more than happy to drive the buggy, and drop you off at your block.

3) As it was a vacation rental, there was no daily cleaning. It would have been great to have a daily change of towels, especially the beach towels.

Room Tip: The penthouse units get great views!

When we arrived at this wonderful place we are greeted by very friendly guards who ferry us to our apartment which has been adorned with beautiful floral decorations. The apartments are very spacious and have all you need to make the stay very comfortable. Kata gardens is placed perfectly between the two beaches - Kata Noi & Kata Yai. Kata Noi is absolutely delightful and worth walking up & down the 80+ stairs (it helps the fitness!) Kata Yai is not as clean but it still lovely and close to lots of great restaurants. Kata Gardens is a fantastic spot for families, the pools are superb and the large rooms with great facilities give everyone space for a rest. The Apartment managers Marg & Butch are always around for advice and have a very extensive knowledge of the area which is invaluable. We would highly recommend to all.

The initial arrival was not very impressive. The security guard was the person who took us to reception where no-one was in attendance initially. Then getting handed over the keys with no welcome, the person didn't speak any english, he just walked off after the keys were handed over.
But all was worth that when we got to our Penthouse with Pool apartment, 11C. The apartment was huge, furnishings amazing, attention to detail, and the bed was the most comfortable we have had on this holiday. We used the pool every day with our friends who arrived same day in 10A. Lovely views. The traffic didn't bother us too much, too tired each night to worry. Close to the beach. Kata beach was quite dirty with rubbish everywhere, but Kata Noi, the smaller beach was much cleaner and not far from the apartment, where we swam most days and relaxed on the beach in the mornings. Were very lucky with the weather after 9 days of rain and storms on Koh Yao. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our breakfast each morning and local supermarkets and fruit shop nearby. Shopping was OK, but not fabulous, so went to Patong a few times, only 20 mins by cab, and Central Festival about same distance. Marg and her husband in 11A were a wonderful help and without them there, it would be difficult to get anything done when required. The restaurant and bar were no longer running. Luckily there are some wonderful restaurants nearby. Loved Two Chefs. Mom TrisLets hope the management get their act together, as this is an amazing place and deserves good staff.
Overall, we really loved it here and would come again for sure!!

Thank you for the kind review...to compensate for the limited variety at the supermarket in Kata and to save you a 20 min.cab ride to Patong, .we now have introduced a provisioning/shopping list from a superb supermarket in Chalong. We send clients a shopping list in advance and add just a small shopping fee and give the supermarket bill. When you arrive at your apartment, all will be placed where it should be....save your time and energy and let us do the boring chores...
