As a former resident, and repeat visitor to Phuket, The Boathouse has always been in a different class from many of the other "Fine Dining" spots around the Island. Yes, its a special occasion spot (for most), but unlike so many other restaurants, both new and established, this place backs up that claim with both the service and food. I have been on a few occasions over the years, and yes there can be bobbles around communication (I talk way too much and fast) but staff are genuine and friendly. Highly recommended to get there early and enjoy an epic sunset watching the last of the surfers catching waves as the sun disappears into the sea. Its postcard perfect. On our recent visit my wife and I ordered a glass of champagne to start while taking in the sunset and as is custom I finished mine long before my wife and the charming manager (an expat from Argentina of all places) came by and gave me a little top-up having recognized me from our recent lunch at their beach Club Re Ka Ta which is just next door. It was a nice and unexpected touch. Food is good and while some is a little old fashioned and heavy for my tastes this seems to have been noted as there are some lighter touches now dotted around the menu. The set menus are always a solid choice as are the steaks. Wine list is best of Class and certainly best on the Island if not Thailand as a whole. There are a lot of places clamouring for your Baht in Kata, and Phuket. The Boathouse is one of the few that is worth repeat visits.
