“The best place to stay in Kata”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

We stayed here for a 3-day weekend in February and I would gladly stay here again in the future! It's the only hotel directly on the beach in Kata. The pool and swim up bar are awesome, so are the on site restaurants! It's the perfect place for serious R&R!
We had a double room with ocean view, which was definitely worth the extra expense. Rooms were spacious and very clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Everything you'd expect from a 4star hotel!

I was Married at the Resort on 03/11/2012, I could not find any fault with the Resort, although when my son, Wife and 3 children arrived, they were in a room with KSBED PLUS 2 Beds beside it for the Children , We Upgraded for anExtra $390 but were a bit upset that itwas nt organisedin the firstplace.
I would recommend On- Anong anytime as she is anexcellent Wedding Coordinator and everything was excellent.
the only problem I have is with Paul The Onsite Tailor as he he Quoted us Prices when we met him in May to have mens Trousers and shirts made for the Wedding. He originally gave us a price of $ 75 approx tohave them made and apon arrival they became $100, he also maDE THE SHIRTS IN INCORRECT COLOR AND MADE US PAY FOR OTHERS TO BE MADE.
IAlso sent him a photo of a dress that i needed made , same again his Quote was $125 then became $300 when we arraived. We actually went with him as we had people coming in at different times andwere time poor . If i had known that he would WRIP US OFF i WOULD HAVE GONE ACROSS THE ROAD TO ATAILOR WHO MADE THE SAME OUTFIT FOR MY BROTHER AT A LOT LESS OF A COST ,SOTAKE HEED AND DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING MADE BY PAUL THE TAILOR,
ALSO THE GIRLS DRESSES WHICH NEEDED ALTERING WERE STUFFED UP AND HAD TO BE SEWN ON THEM AS THEY WERE WALKING OUT THE DOOR,
a TRULY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH HIM.

We stayed 10 nights in two single deluxe pool access rooms. From the time we walked in to the time we checked out we loved it. My only slightly negative comment is about not providing beach towels in my room for the pool when my friend was provided them daily. However not a majornissue as they provide them free at the pool and i was able to get some from the gym each morning. Loved it, great service very reasknably priced and absolutely the best beach in phuket. Patong was dirty busy and more expensive. Kata was relaxing clean and super cheap to eat out and enjoy. Recommend muay thai boxing and john grays night canoeing. The phiphi island snorkelling booked via the diving outlet at the hotel was the worst tour of all with 40mins out of 9 hours actually snorkelling. Go to a nearby agent to book a better tour. We were sauashed into a boat with 40 russians and a russian tour guide. Sourfaced rude people in my opinion.

Myself & two friends stayed at Kata Beach Resort & Spa the last week of Oct 2012. The weather was great, not too hot or humid. Not too busy as it was just before the start of the high season. The resort is beautiful, very clean & spacious. Staff were very friendly & could not do enough for us. The pool & views were magnificent. The food was great, loved the buffet breakfast. The location was great. Close to shops (great shopping) & restraunts in the street. We ate most of our meals in the restraunts in the street which also had great meals. Some of the street restraunts catered for all taste buds. If you didnt like Thai food they had steaks & pasta on the menu. None of us were sick. Massages available across the road at a better rate than the resort. They were all very professional 400B ($14 AUS) for 1 hr full body massage. Kata Beach is quiet, a great place for family's or if you don't want to stay in the hustle & bustle of Patong. Kata resort is around 20min from Patong. (taxi ot tuk tuk 400B) We would all definately stay there again.

Room Tip: Deluxe pool view room was great. The pool was right at our door step & the beach was about 20 st...

We were 2 adults a 13 year old and stayed 10 nights in October. It didn't seem that busy, so was a very nice time to go, weather fantastic. Our room had a balcony with a lovely view out to the sea and pool resort areas. The room was right above the entrance to the restaurant. The room was of an average standard, nothing special. There was a large mould patch on the ceiling where the AC blew out from, and the cleaning service was very average, just replaced the linen (sometimes not all of it, so had to ring housekeeping on 2 occassions) but didn't clean the bathroom really. Our son had the rollaway which was a pretty hard thin mattress. We only ate at the poolside bar on our last day and it was good. There are so many other places to eat, and much better value for money. We ate dinner twice on the beach, in front of the resort where a mobile BBQ sets up every night, Fabulous, entertaing and good value, and you can BYO drinksPool towels are provided and yes guests do place their towels on the loungers for the day, didn't seem a problem when we were there as it was quieter. We didn't sit by the pool so didn't bother us. There is plenty of choice for transport, we took the local bus to Phuket town at 30 Baht, great value, and right outside the resort, and once in Phuket we hired a Tuk Tuk to take us around Phuket and back to Kata, over 4 hours $600Baht. He took us to 1 gem store and a souvenir shop, which was great for us as we had heard but not seen these places. The driver gets stamps which can be used for fuel. Kata is a good location away from the crowds of Patong, and everything is right on the doorstep of the resort, with plenty of choice. If you do a lot of day trips you will always be picked up first 7 -7.30am because it is so far south, unless the trip leaves from Chalong. But you do see a bit more of the country as well. Pedicures, massages etc are available just in front of the beach, very good value, and a must. The beach right in front is a big plus, and great waves. Overall the resort provided what we needed a great base to see and do things or simply relax. We got a great October rate, but probably wouldn't want to pay much more.

Room Tip: we had 2311- mould on the ceiling, but other rooms could have this problem too due to humidity.This...

We stayed for 8 nights in August and had a fantastic time. We had two adjoining rooms for a family of 4 which worked really well. The view from our rooms were lovely, the amenities were of a reasonable standard (a bit dated) but clean and tidy - perfectly adequate. The best part about Kata beach resort is that is right on the beach, has a lovely swimming pool when not swimming in the sea and was also in the middle of the resturant and shopping area - not much walking. The weather was extremely hot when we were there so being right on the beach was magic!! Buffet breakfast was really good. A great place to stay - would recommend it to families. Definitely thought it was the best resort at Kata Beach - may not be the grandest or newest but location and beach are my no. 1 recommendation to others.

My partner and I stayed here for ten nights at the end of October through early November and had a lovely time. I stayed here earlier in the year with friends also and you just can't beat the location on the beach! Staff appear disinterested at times but if you've got realistic expectations about the service it won't bother you.

This time however we befriended (if you can say that) a stray kitten who appeared to frequent the resort at dusk near the adult pool. It (sex unknown) was malnorished and whilst we tried to fatten it up (it loved the spam you can buy across the road at 7-Eleven - 5 slices per feed chopped up) over the ten nights we were there, I'd love to know someone is taking care of it now that we've returned home. We named it Percy - it's white with bright blue eyes and ginger coloured stripes on it's tail. It's scared of people and is known for the odd meow and kitten hiss but appeared extremely grateful for the food and we'd find it in the same place each day (the garden beds surrounding the adult pool). If we beat it there we'd find it sprinting across the gardens towards us.

Whilst I know it's one kitten in a thousand strays on Phuket (we contacted Soi Dog who menioned they have 400 dogs and cats in their shelter currently) but it would be great to try and build up a bit of a community of cat friendly folk who stay at Kata Beach Resort and Spa who could keep an eye on it's welfare.

Thanks!

Room Tip: If you're not travelling with kids make sure you stay away from the pool area!
