“Loved Kata Beach Resort”
Reviewed March 6, 2008

I stayed here for 4 Nights in September last year and loved it! I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful - my husband and brother in law even joined them for a few drinks after work one night! The food in the buffet restaurant was ok but we prefered the Italian restaurant which nobody seemed to eat in.

We had a ocean view superior room which was really nicely decorated and spacious. Other family members had standard rooms which were very similar but looked onto a busy road.

The pool area was lovely and we spent quite a bit of time enjoying the cocktails from the pool bar. There was a snake at the pool one day though!

My sister in law and I had a wonderful massage at the hotel and it was really cheap.

I didnt venture out the hotel much but one eveing we did and there seemed to be some nice bars. We went to Dinos bar where we got to feed a baby elephant. There were quite a lot of ladies of the night lining the street though. We got a Tuc Tuc back to the hotel from the bar and that was really good fun!

I have stayed at this hotel three times in three years, each time duing the peak season of December. The hotel and its facilities are excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. However, there were two major disappointments in such a top end hotel. First, there was no food or beverage service of any kind including room service after 11pm (in the height of the tourist season), and secondly, there is no internet facility in the rooms. There two reasons would make me look elsewhere next time.

After staying at Kata Beach resort, I will definitely be going back next year. I would recommend this wonderful resort to anyone who wishes to have a peaceful and relaxing environment and get great value for money, especially for the huge buffet breakfast you receive every morning. My boyfriend and I got treated to an extra 5 dinners at the resort for free, which were all delicious. The rooms were open, and balcony view was beautiful. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Make sure you get up early to get a lounge by the huge pool, it’s much better than lying on the beach (which you have to pay for, it’s cheap, but not really worth it). Patong is good for nightlife and shopping, but you’ll be happy and glad to come back to the resort to get away from the craziness and ‘lady boys’. Be sure to pay a little extra and get an ocean view room, otherwise you ‘ll be looking onto the car park or the street. The only draw back I have was the pool bar was quite dear, just BYO your drinks and food to the pool and bell boys don’t leave the room till they’re tipped. The resort looks just like it does in the photo’s. You wont be disappointed.

This was our second trip to Kata beach resort. We loved the first time some much we went back again.

On arriving at the hotel we were greated by the 'head' front desk lady with drinks and our names were added to the VIP customers as it was our second stay. We were travelling with friends and it was only there first time there so they werent treated as VIP which was a bit annoying for them. The only difference was we got water added to our fridge twice a day and also a fruit platter and wine in our room on arrival.

The staff here are always friendly and the place is just so relxed and beautiful. THere are many great resturants near by and its just a short tuk tuk ride into Patong.

Would reccomend

We stayed here from 3 Sep to 6 Sept, booked through a budget airline package. It was our first visit to Phuket and it was low season for the island. The hotel is about 45min away from the airport, gotta pass through some winding roads. Not a big fan of the overdosed red interior, but hotel lobby is spacious and airy. Reception staffs were very friendly and helpful; because the hotel was having some upgrading work, we were given 2 days of complimentary afternoon tea and dinner voucher. Our booking was for garden view room only but we got a pool side / beach view room, the room was very clean and spacious, the bathroom was clean and nice too. Laundry service was good, we got new fresh towels everyday, and when we asked for extra pillows, they were sent to us like immediately but they could have use some better quality mattress. The hotel has a nice location, you can find Tuk Tuk stand just opposite and Songthaew (local bus) depart to Phuket town just outside the hotel every morning at 10:30. There are some nice restaurants and Thai massage shops across the road as well. Even though this is a beach front hotel, most beaches in Phuket are “run” by independent vendor, which means they set up chairs and umbrellas along the beach and you’ve to pay for the spot; I thought this only apply to Patong.. Nonetheless, there are deck chairs just along the hotel pool side for hotel guests. Breakfast is very nice, good varieties of food, from local to western, however, dinner is not recommended. Kata beach is much less crowded than Patong, it’s a good place to relax and suggest that anyone wants to visit Phuket, go during low season as it’s much, much less crowded (on the street, the beach and restaurants), hotels are way cheaper too.

After a few mixed reviews I was a bit wary about staying here. But I can, after staying there for 2 weeks, say it is a great place to stay!
The hotel is right on the beach, which at this time of year is a bit rough... although we still went in and had a lot of fun jumping the waves, along with a lot of other people and watching the surfers!
The water was also very clear on days the waves were a little smaller.
The hotel also provided us with 5 free dinner vouchers which were much appreciated, allowing us to eat in the main restaurant for a wide range of buffet meals.
The breakfast had everything i could have wanted, a selection of hot food, croissants, bread, cereals, fruit and so on.
The staff were very friendly and always greeted you if you walked past!
The weather was also very good around 30-32 each day and only rained twice.

I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!!
