Lorraine and I visited Cortijo La Loma in December, 2007, after finding details of the property in an "trawl" of the internet. Our first experience of the excellent customer service offered by Gaynor and Martin was shortly after our initial e-mail enquiry. Gaynor responded promptly with a telephone call and was a mine of information about the property and the surrounding area. In a passing comment, I mentioned that we were looking for a quiet place as Lorraine was unwell - when we arrived at La Loma, Gaynor was on hand armed with "Lemsip", a basket full to the brim of videos and a bottle of local wine. All of the items were greatly appreciated and beneficial to a speedy recovery. The apartment in which we stayed was beautifully appointed and fully self contained. The remainder of the property was also beautifully presented and of course the views are indeed divine. Our heavenly experience was completed with the most comfortable bed that either of us have ever slept in! No request of our hosts was too much of a problem and although always on hand, Gaynor and Martin fully respected our privacy. Our only regret is that Spain and La Loma are so far from Australia. We look forward to many return visits. David

Just got back from a stress free relaxing holiday at La loma with my husband and our two children aged 9 and 11. We had a warm welcome from Martin and Gaynor who made our stay so enjoyable and comfortable. The weather was a bit iffy at first but we had central heating a wood burning stove and the most comfortable beds with deep filled duvets. A good supply of DVDS and games kept us all occupied in the first couple of evenings when it was cold and wet. The weather soon picked up and we had lovely walks through the olive groves down to the lake. Lots of interesting places to visit all in easy driving distance and all connected with a good motorway system and on roads that put ours in britain to shame even the small mountain roads are well maintained. The children were in the pool most days we did take their wetsuits because we knew they wouldnt of been able to resit. The experience of real spain is the most memorable thing I am so glad that there are all these little villages and towns untouched by mass tourism living a slow and unpoluted lifesyle a step back in time. It has felt more than a week the slow pace of life has made the week in La Loma feel more like 2 weeks. Gaynor and Martin have created a haven and are living the dream and thank you for letting us share that dream. We will most definately be back there is so much more to see and we feel like we will be visiting old friends. The only problem will be the word will be out and we will have to make sure we book in plenty of time because they are booking up fast.

This was my first and eagerly anticipated visit to La Loma. However the photos on the website don’t do it justice – the views of the mountains and lake are just amazing, with so much to see in every direction. There’s something magical about having a view that includes a lake! The peace and quiet is something so rare these days and it was wonderful to be able to hear just the sound of the local wildlife and nothing else. The quality of the accommodation was superb – clean, tidy and comfortable. Gaynor and Martin as hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. Despite being so hard working they always had time to chat to us and they went out of their way to highlight the wide and diverse activities the area has to offer. A visit to the wolf park near Antequera and the donkey sanctuary at Fuente de Piedra were fascinating. Gaynor even booked a bespoke birdwatching trip for me and my partner with Doreen, a local guide who had expert knowledge of what we could see in the area. This was mainly to see vultures although at the end of the trip we had seen countless other species of birds as well. I cannot recommend this highly enough! Seeing dozens of flamingos at Laguna Salada was an experience I will remember for years to come!
A wonderful holiday and the week just flew by. I hope to return next year!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in La Loma in September. The company we hired a car from was a disaster but Gaynor and Martin could not have made us feel more welcome when we turned up much later than expected after a difficult journey in the dark on unfamiliar roads.

The accommodation is of a very high standard, the pool is fantastic and the milk from the nearby goat farm is to be recommended.

We stayed at La Loma late May 2007. The hosts Martin & Gaynor were absolute stars – they made our stay absolutely unforgettable and really went out of their way to make us welcome and help us in every way possible!

Situated on a hilltop and surrounded by olive groves with a charming view down a valley it was the most picturesque setting you will ever see! Overlooking Lake Iznajar, we spent most of our stay exploiting some really excellent fishing. This area is full of striking and stunning views and every corner is full of varied and diverse natural wildlife.

The locals were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked the same week for 2008 before we left! I’ve also booked another week in March 2008 for myself and my partner so that we can explore the nearby national park and the wonderful wildlife, and can’t wait to go back.

PS. If fishing, a 4 x 4 is a must because access to most areas of the lake is testing but exciting, and well worth the effort.

Our family stayed at La Loma in late December, 2007 and we had a wonderful time. The owners, Gaynor and Martin, made sure that the house was fully ready for our stay, with welcoming provisions and lots of information about area sights. The view from the house is spectacular; rolling hills and olive trees. The house is ideally situated for outings to Seville, Cordoba, Granada, and Malaga. Towns near La Loma provide good shopping and restaurants. Our stay at La Loma was comfortable and fun, and a perfect introduction to southern Spain.
