Hotel Caserio de Iznájar has really beautiful views of the lake and surrounding scenery. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Their restaurant food is excellent and fantastic value for money. It is a little gem.

Room tip: Ask the reception

Nice, for some reason only two starred hotel. Clean room, good bed, and an AC unit, which in the middle of October was handy for heating(!) for a few hours in the middle of the night.
Plenty of free parking places, a nice garden with pool, and very good WiFi in the room: I even watched a live football ("soccer" as the call it in Trump country) game from England without any disturbances.
Located far from the "Iznajarsk" city center, so we "had" to eat at the hotel. The grill menu had three meat alternatives: pork fillet, entrecôte 450 g, and beef 600 g. I did not want to eat 450 g or more, so I ordered the pork. OMG, it was at least 700 g! But it was very good, and I managed to eat at least half of it.
And in the morning the breakfast, included in the room price, was very good and more than sufficient: Bread, ham, cheese, jamon, chopped tomato salsa and two home made marmalades with coffee or tea.
The staff was very nice and spoke good English.
The only thing I complain about is the lighting. Both in the restaurant and in the room, but especially in the bathroom.

Room tip: The rooms with double beds are facing the garden

Alter 60k on bicycle, under a strong rain in a very cold day, we arrived looking for a hot shower.
The clerk practically moved us out the hotel to say: “we have a problem with your reservation, we have a marriage here, we propose to relocate you to another hotel”
Tired, I agreed.
The other hotel was an apartment, Nice, but not a hotel. We were freezing and no hot shower, some problem with the Boiler.
The main problem, was the clerk reception, looking for two cyclists, wet and freezing, saying : I recomend you to move for another place.

We stayed at this hotel as we were on a cycling holiday around Andalusia. It was a very friendly well run hotel - mainly done by the young lady who when we arrived had her back to us looking for something in the cupboard behind her reception desk. We later learnt that she was the most versatile member of the whole hotel team! Not only did she serve me drinks from the bar on several occasions, but I saw her laying the restaurant for dinner, and sweeping it. Helped us get our bikes into a safe place to charge and then proceeded to serve us at dinner as well. Then in the morning..... well where do I start she served us breakfast (along with all the other people staying and there were a few) and then she had to be in reception as well to let people check out. And then,,,,,,, to her dismay my husband had got a bit of a flat tyre on his bike and she proceeded to get her bike repair kit out also, talking it through with some one (In between I watched her go and serve breakfast to the local Guardi and other guests!) WOW..... what a girl! She should be CEO (someone on the ground but knows who to do it!)

Well done and lovely service with a smile (not sure how you manage it!)

Thank you again.

A Spanish rustic hotel, cortijo style, located outside the town of Iznajar. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean. There was an aircon unit in the room but due to the extreme heat (39/40 degrees) it barely cooled the room even though it was running all the time. We opted for half board (breakfast and evening meal). The breakfast was as expected - bread, ham, cheese, tomato, jams, fruit salad, orange juice and a hot drink. This was served in the covered courtyard. The evening meal was taken in the restaurant - on the terrace at this time of year. This was a little 'hit and miss'. We were always offered a choice of 3 things for a starter and 3 things for the main meal but only once were we offered any dessert. The waiting staff (sometimes only one) were extremely busy as the restaurant filled up. The pool area offers sunbeds and some umbrellas plus there is a large patio area with tables and umbrellas. The hotel staff were all very friendly and spoke some English - not that this was needed as we have lived in Spain for some 14 plus years. The town of Iznajar is a good distance away and you would need a car to get there although there didn't seem to be anything of interest there. The beach at the lake offers pedalos, cayaks, sunbeds and umbrellas with plenty of room for ball games. It was extremely hot when we visited so we drove down rather than walking and there was plenty of room to park close to the water. We had a superb paella lunch in the restaurant there - highly recommended! The hotel did advertise tennis and a playground/mini golf which gave the impression that this was part of the hotel. This was not the case - there is a municipal swimming pool and sports ground next to the hotel where there was a padel tennis court. The playground/mini golf was further down the road towards the beach and the mini golf in particular looked as though it hadn't been used for some time. Would visited again but would chose spring or autumn.
