“Simply a gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2012

What a lovely, lovely place! Julie and Sheelagh are so kind and interesting and run Brazos Abiertos just perfectly.
Our room (Spring) was great. Didn't spend much time in there though as the gardens, pool and patio areas kept us outside most of the time. Absolutely fantastic views from everywhere on the property, and just so peaceful and relaxing.
The donkeys were particular favourites of ours and kept us immensely amused.
We had meals each of the three evenings we spent there and without exception every course of every meal was delicious, and I cannot believe how they can provide such wonderful food for the price. You will not be disappointed if you take meals there, and like us will be reluctant to try anywhere else because the food is just so good.
Julie and Sheelagh clearly love their home and life there, and are willing to share their extensive knowledge of the area, and their very interesting stories of Andalucian life. They're both lovely women make will make you so welcome and at home.
We've never left a place with the kind of feelings we left Brazos Abiertos with, and can't wait to visit again later in the summer.

With comfortable rooms, a very good kitchen and not expensive. They help you to resolve all your questions. A place with an enormous view on the mountains. You have to be there !!!!

We wanted a beautiful location, lovely accommodation, excellent food, donkeys, a cat and visiting dog. Add to that the wonderful hospitality of Julie and Sheelagh and we had a wonderful week's holiday. Yes we add ourselves to those who will return.

Room Tip: All excellent.

We have just enjoyed another great stay here....we are fast becoming regular visitors as we use it for a base for sightseeing. This stay we visited some of the smaller villages and enjoyed some lovely walks. Ask Sheelagh and Julie for directions to the waterfall walk in Algarinejo..easy walk with lovely scenery and a fab restaurant at the end (Piolas) they are hoping for a Michelin star but also do a tremendous Menu del Dia at lunch for 10 euros a head 3 courses and a glass of wine...brilliant. Enjoyed being there at the start of spring, house is centrally heated and we loved the evening spent inform of the log fire after a great evening meal. As always service great, welcome tremendous...we will return, yet again!

Great place to stay. We did some sight seeing and some lazing around the pool perfect combination. Food excellent and great honesty bar where you could help yourself just like home. Rooms very comfortable and Sheela and julie were so helpful on places to see, restaurants bars etc. Loved the area and the peace and quiet, views from the terrace spectacular. A great value place to stay, real little gem.

We had a great time at Brazos Abiertos, secluded accommodation but not isolated. The bar in the nearby village of La celada is a must, he closes when you decide to leave and the little shop is so cute. We were made very welcome by the girls and nothing was too much trouble. Loved the yurt where we had pamper treatments and Reikki. Donkeys soooo funny. Plenty of room in the house to find a quiet corner and we spent many evenings watching the sun go down on the huge terrace, I don't think there could be better views in the whole of Andalucia. Food great all home cooked by Julie and in the mornings we were able to collect lettuce and tomatoes grown by sheila, you don't get fresher than that. Rooms great and free sensible size bottles of shampoo and shower gel in the wet rooms. Staying at Brazos Abiertos is a wonderful experience far more than a usual holiday B&B. Hope we get to that part of the world again.

Room Tip: we were in the spring room which was bright and airy and our friends in the autumn room which got a...
