“Modern, Clean and well-located quality Executive Apartments”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

Modern, Clean and well-located quality Executive Apartments. Great location, only 2 minutes drive to Charlestown shopping centre. Great Sony flat-screen TV and region-free DVD player. There is even an espresso machine per apartment! Don't forget to bring your own Nespresso capsules, however if you do forget, Reception sells each pod capsules for $1.00.

Very friendly staff members! Secure undercover parking!

High quality 2 bedroom apartment with choice of bedding configuration. We were on Newcastle for a special event and some city shopping. Walking distance to Charlestown shopping centre. Apartment fully self contained and kitchen well equipped. Bedrooms and bathrooms (2 of each) upstairs and living downstairs. Only issue we found which would not deter another stay is the downstairs sound/talking/noise carried entirely upstairs this could have been due to the tiled floors. Undercover secured parking, lift to apartment and also dual ground floor access for packing car. Would recommend and stay again.

Hi Susielou,

Thank-you very much for your feedback. We’re glad you had a great stay with us and enjoyed your time shopping at Charlestown Square. We agree that sometimes the tiled floors can produce an echo in the units. For our apartments, we just find that tiles are so much easier than carpet to keep clean and dust-free.
You have managed to outline most of the best features of our apartments in your review and we thank you very much for taking notice. We hope you will consider staying with us again on your next shopping excursion to Charlestown.

Whilst the apartments are beautiful and the location close to shops, you don't want to step a foot out of line here!
$100 for any noise complaints after 10pm, $25 fines for not washing dishes, $25 fine for not putting out garbage, $35 for any stains on towels and $185 for any stains on the carpet! Not to mention $25 if the benches aren't wiped down...
This was told to us after not being able to check in until 4pm, two hours after the time we were told!
And being told by the manager, "I'm not sure why they are making it spotless, you're only going to make it dirty" .. assuming that because our group was aged 21-22 that we were going to leave the place a mess.
Overall, very disappointed and won't be back!

You are not the only one disappointed!

You stayed on perhaps the busiest day of the year with the “Groovin the Moo” music festival, as well as other concerts and events happening in and around Newcastle. The majority of our 4.5 star apartments were booked by under 22 year olds (your group alone comprised of at least 16 people occupying three units). These sorts of numbers are a concern for us, as they would be with any other accommodation on a weekend like this. We had all cleaners on deck and they cleaned 18 units after 10:00am check-out on the day of your arrival. That day, all guests requested early check-ins, between 12:00 and 2:00 pm with most rooms requiring additional bedding, an almost impossible task in the allotted time of 2-3 hours. Nonetheless, we did make sure to have one of your units ready so that you could wait there until the other two units were done. At the time it seemed that you were happy to wait. Our cleaners are conscientious and work very hard – your comments were very dispiriting. That said, we apologize for not having your unit ready by 2:00pm.

When my wife went up to check progress on your unit she encountered your group playing hand ball in the driveway. This is not condoned behaviour and is a cause for concern on our part. Noise late at night can be a problem particularly when alcohol is involved. We do endeavour to make it clear from the start that bad behaviour and noise will not be tolerated. My wife insists that she made the offending comment in jest – she has a happy personality and was no doubt trying to keep the mood light.

With regard to the charges displayed on the refrigerator of each unit, they are intended as a deterrent and not a revenue source – we have only levied charges in a handful of instances where units have been left damaged and untidy.

It is a pity that you couldn’t have taken a more balanced view of our business particularly as you are the first person in 2.5 years to give our efforts a “poor” rating. We regret that you were disappointed and we must admit, so are we, by the comments in your review. However, we do not apologize for endeavouring to maintain a high standard for all our guests.

After entering Newcastle we were very disappointed by the crowded conditions and the general lack of signage and helpful information. Everything seemed crowded and noisy, we chose a destination only 7km away in Charlestown and what a difference! The staff were friendly and helpful, within easy walking distance there was a major shopping centre and safe and secure parking for our vehicle. Beautiful clean apartments, very well resourced and equipped.

Room Tip: Drive the extra distance from Newcastle, it will be worth it.

Hi Donna,

Thank-you for your great review. We agree that sometimes on a busy weekend, Newcastle can feel a bit crowded. This past weekend was no exception with a number of events happening in and around the city.
We’re glad we could accommodate you at the last minute and that you left with such a great impression of Charlestown and our apartments! I hope we get to welcome you back on your next trip!

very nice apartment. the kitchen was nicely fitted out. comfortable couches and big tvs. reception gave as a great local map for walking to shops and going out for lunch and dinner. good location near a park and playground for the kids. I would highly recommend staying here. we will return next time we are in the region.

I stayed here with my family in a 2 BEDROOM APT over the Easter break and found the staff very friendly and facilities very to be modern, clean and well kept.
I felt very safe here, and would definitely stay here again.
I would recommend having a car to stay here to travel around Newcastle.
The coffee machine in the room was a bonus, though I think It would be beneficial for the apts to have washing machines and dryers in the apts for guests on longer stays.

Hi Beth,

Thank-you for your comments! It’s always good to hear that our guests have had a memorable experience during their stay here. We would just like to mention that we have considered washers and dryers for each unit, but just didn’t find it economically feasible for our property. Instead, we’ve opted to have a guest laundry room available 24-hours/day. Thank-you for your positive review, we hope to see you again!

This is our 2nd stay here, perfect position to spend a weekend with family memebers, where we both travel a half day to meet up. The cost for a 2-bedroom apartment is less or equal to 2 motel rooms and we have all the convenience of extra living space, kitchen etc. Beautifully clean, comfortable, nicely appointed. Very convenient to Charlestown shopping centre, and an easy drive to anywhere in Newcastle or Lake Macquarie.
