We stayed here for 2 nights in June 2014. From outside, the hotel looks like a large farm house but the style inside is modern.

Our room, no5, on the 1st floor at the back, was fine, but nothing special. It overlooked a minor road and barn and was quite warm. I don't think there are any terrace rooms, but if returning i'd probably ask if there was a room at the front available.

The pool is a good size with plenty of sun loungers. The hotel is well set back from the main road and so is very peaceful. The garden was in full bloom and well tended. There is a comfortable airy dining room which we used on the second night. Onthe first we had dinner on the large terrace which faces west so gets the evening sun.

We had a selection of lovely breads for breakfast with fresh orange juice and a good selection of dishes for dinner. The cheese chariot was a firm favourite.

We can vouch for the previous comments on the staff's sense of humour but they were efficient, attentive, and welcoming too.

Room Tip: I'd go for the front of the hotel next time.

Like the previous reviewer we booked a room, specifically number 3, but on arrival after a long drive and looking forward to a glass of wine and possibly a swim there was no record of our booking despite having a copy of the confirmation email with us.We could have had another room but as we had not had a nice room on our previus visit on the owner's advice we asked for a garden facing room.
We left and went to the always reliable Val Moret!!

Room Tip: Probably a waste of time as no notice was taken of our request.

I would love to be able to give this hotel a great review but sadly that will be impossible. After having made a booking on 27 April for 24 August, and having email confirmation of the booking and room number, we were told on arrival that there was no booking in our name! The only explanation offered was "c'est bizarre'! Bizarre it certainly was, and very upsetting after a very long drive and the expectation of a comfortable room and good meal. The only explanation offered was that it was the fault of the booking website, but remember this booking was made through the hotel website, so this is more than a little puzzling. I fully understand that mistakes happen, but NO apology was offered and although the offer was made to ring the other hotel in Les Riceys to see if a room was available, that was the full extent of any attempt to help us out. We had previously decided the alternative hotel was not to our choice and this is why we chose Le Magny. We felt we were treated very shabbily and I am sorry to say we both felt angry and probably responded in a manner out of character. However, if we had felt there was any responsibility taken by the hotel management and equally even a slight acknowledgement that the hotel was at fault, we would have felt differently. Suffice to say we will never again attempt a visit to this hotel, which is sad as it looked lovely.

Trip to France in the champagne region our first meal of our holiday absolutely excellent down to hearth dishes but executed so perfectly
Not Michelin star indeed but you won't be dissapointed.
I cannot leave a comment about the hotel as we only used the restaurant
The rabbit terrine with prune was flavoursome and the contrefillet was so tender one of the bet steak I had in age this is a little gem who need to be discovered

Extremely warm and friendly welcome from Mr Oliveau himself who not only showed us to our room but carried one of our cases too. Professional yet friendly restaurant staff was a bonus to the excellent food, service and ambience. Only a brief stay this time but we will return to this lovely hotel to explore the village and surrounding area more.

We discovered this hotel through some friends that are going there at least once a year. This is not in the "classic champagne" area but more closely to the very nice city Troyes. Still... this is another champagne area and an unexpected discovery.

Also the hotel is a recommendation and certainly towards the diners in the evening. Everything refined with an excellent choice of champagnes and wines. If you sleep there for 2 nights and want to eat in the restaurant, make sure you book the "champagne pour tous le monde". This included the diners and all drinks ! The breakfast is very good.

The rooms are clean but a bit outdated. Some new and modern touches are recommended but its certainly not dramatic. After all, if you come to this region, you don't want to waste too much time in your room...

Also recommended is the champagne house Guy de Forez next doors which has excellent champagne that you can buy directly !

A charming small hotel. The room was clean and the bathroom well fitted out. The food was acceptable and reflected regional specialities. The two waiters had an interesting sense of humour...in French!!
