Chateau de Courcelles
Certificate of Excellence

(I should preface this with the fact that my boyfriend and I visited in November using a Groupon, which offered an off-season discount on the room and dinner. So, I felt that our stay was an exceptional value given the price, but I'm not sure if i would feel the same if visiting during summer and paying face value.)

The service was impeccable, professional, and welcoming. We were greeted by a polite girl with a warm smile who gave us the tour of the chateau while a man brought our luggage to the room. Our room was very clean and nicely decorated, with a view overlooking the gardens. We stayed in room 4, a deluxe chambre on the first floor of the chateau. I know that they have junior suites with terraces located in the old stables outside, which looked beautiful when we walked by. Our room had a comfortable bed, very clean bathroom with a rainfall shower head and separate huge bathtub, and Hermes bath products. After a few minutes, they brought up a nice bottle of champagne and cakes. Yum! My favorite part - the chateau grounds. They are absolutely stunning, especially in the early morning before the fog lifts. My pictures look fake!

Dinner was served in the conservatory and was delicious - especially desserts. Again - wonderful service by the staff! The wine menu is the size of the Gutenberg bible with a huge selection. They had a couple bottles to choose within our budget (under 100 Euro for a bottle) which I appreciated. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, but somewhat basic - I wished they served eggs. Even budget-friendly hotels like Novotel that I've stayed in had hard boiled or poached eggs with the buffet.

Upon checkout which was quick and friendly, they gave us bottled water and the best oatmeal cookies I have ever tasted. We spent a fantastic, romantic weekend at Chateau de Courcelles!

We were looking for a stop over on the way from the French Alps to our home in the UK. The approach was up a beautiful tree lined drive. We were met by a very charming manager she gave us the choice of three rooms we chose one of the garden rooms. after a few minutes a bottle of champagne and homemade cakes were delivered to our room. We opted for the 8 course tasting menu and more champagne. Staff were very attentive. next morning breakfast was served in the conservatory everything was homemade . If you go in the summer there is a very attractive swimming pool..

Room Tip: The Garden rooms have there own terrace which would be nice in the summer but think you have to book...

Just returned from a weekend break with friends. The food was simply devine! We had the 8 course taster menu, and could barely move from the table afterwards, lovely setting and we were not rushed over our dinner, it took us 3 hours to consume all the courses. Very deserving of their Michelin star. The breakfast was wonderful, I have not had better pain au chocolat anywhere else.

The hotel is lovely, but having stayed here some years ago, it doesn't look like they have spent any money on the rooms, they feel a little tired. But, come for the food and the service. We wanted to go out for dinner on our second night and the hotel recommended and booked for us ' Gourmandise' in Fisme, 10 minutes down the road, do try this restaurant. Inexpensive, but excellent dinner with great service.

Room Tip: We had an apartment in the courtyard, very quiet and spacious.

We stayed here since we follow relais & chateau. The room was a jr suite and beautiful. The grounds are lovely. T&e lady who treated us was wonderful after her the staff was ok, but nothing special. Unfortunately of a one star restaurant the food was just ok and he service was poor. Really without charm for a relais. People, who complain about the prices should look at the web page. Our view was that it isn't worth the money.

Being a Relay et Chateau member for many years and having experienced some of the best service on all of their hotels this one came as the biggest shock ever.
We were traveling from Nice back to England and decided to stop overnight before going on the Channel Tunnel the following morning.
The staff on the phone, the day before, were very helpful when I booked the room. We arrived at around 8 pm and decided to have dinner. We went for the tasting menu (95 Euro each) and were disappointed with the quality of some of the food. Nothing to brag about. Desserts were very good though.
As for the room, dirty, empty toiletry bottles, faulty light bulbs, so hot we couldn't sleep most of the night as the rooms don't have aircon, walls are so dark that you can't see the mosquitos that descend on you while you try to sleep, and for you ladies, no moisturizing lotion and no hair conditioner, the room key is so warn out that it takes you 2 or 3 minutes of fiddling with the key on the lock before the lock accepts the key, at around 1 am the room filled with a smell of baking and melting cheese, etc.
We were shocked that R&C allow this property to be associated with them. I will be making an official complain to R&C.

Room Tip: If after all this you still decide to book a stay t this hotel, make sure you buy a couple of large...

We had a very enjoyable one night stay here, the chateau is wonderful and set in lovely grounds. We enjoyed the the taster menu and found the staff very pleasant. Some of the waiters don't speak much English but the reception staff are very good.

This was our third visit to this Chateau and I have to say it is not as good as it was.Our room was very pleasant but on the third floor under the roof with low ceilings and smaller windows than the lower floors and rather hot ( Our booking said a first floor room had been booked for us, we did not notice this until after we had left and I would have preferred the next floor down where we had stayed before)
Dinner was definitely below par having a somewhat 'brown' theme. The owner (?manager) was helping in the dinning room and was charming. Breakfast did not start until 8.30am and was rather disorganized. It was not ready and food came in at different times, instead of being all laid out before people arrived. We had finished our breakfast of bread, jam, juice and sweet pastries when a plate of meat and cheese arrived, too late for us to consider eating it. The drive up to the Chateau gets worse and worse and will soon need a 4X4 to negotiate it. I think this will be our last visit.
