Excellent choice for a peaceful stay in the heart of the Loire Valley. The grounds are beautiful, tranquil and full of magnificent old oaks, cedars and plane trees. Nothing was too much trouble for the Maitre de Maison, Madame William and her attentive and gracious staff. The cuisine and service in the charming restaurant was first class. We stayed in a well appointed and beautifully clean room in the clocktower building, just a stone's throw from the historic chateau itself. There is a properly heated swimming pool and a tennis court for those inclined. We would not hesitate to return.

A first class hotel and dining room trying very hard to create a really excellent standard in all respects. As a 5C member we received a lovely half bottle of fizz and fruit platter on arrival and were made to feel exceptionally welcome. Dinning in on three nights tested the menu extensively and everything delivered was really good in all respects. An excellent point to mention is that without hesitation new dishes were prepared by chef off menu to keep things fresh for us. This really shows the attention of the staff and their willingness to please the guests. A lot of hotel management could do well to stay here to see just how it should be done! First class.

Room Tip: The clock house downstairs rooms are very nice with a private patio and air con

This year we had a leisurely drive to South West France and used this lovely historic chateau for our second night. We were in Room 3 which is spacious and well appointed although the rather bright green and purple decor was slightly surprising- although unimportant. Very attractive grounds for a wander and had a few drinks in the garden before dinner. The Chateau is surrounded by and dominates the village in an attractive location about a mile from the Loire. A good dinner- fois-gras with strawberries for both, then pigeon for me and a white fish for my wife both high grade and retired soon after 10pm.

In the afternoon we had heard music from the room which we assumed came from a neighbouring room or one of the cottages close by. On going to bed, however, there was a noticeable bass line and drum beat repeating every 20 minutes which gradually drove us mad and sleep was impossible! We dressed and rushed to reception as my wife burst into vocal complaint as I struggled to find the French for " and if you think I am paying you had better reconsider...." only to find that at reception the guy on duty reached behind and turned off a switch. Peace and our sanity was restored. At breakfast the next day we saw that two speakers in the dining room were fixed into the ceiling into our Room (No. 3) above- they were about 6 foot from the bed.An easy solution but as we did not even hear the "musak" at dinner and it was very faint at breakfast it might be easy to either turn it off when Room 3 is in use or relocate the speaker. This added a memory but was easy to rectify.

A good venue for the Loire Valley close to historic Amboise.

Room Tip: Room 3 good but watch out for Musak!

Dear Sir BARTELLE,

So thank you for your nice comment. We take good note about technical trouble to make sure that it will not happen in the future but as no one inform us about thiçs music problem before in general our guest enjoyed the jazz music...

To those looking for a classic French Relais and Chateaux this is your place. Classic food, classic service, classic rooms - all at a classic R&C price.

As an American family with two teenagers, we probably should have picked something a little more relaxed. The eye rolls we received by staff and guests alike when we returned from a very long day of chateaux'ing with big bags of KFC were priceless.

Our mistake.

But to those who want high French at a high price, this is your place.

Dear Guest,
We thank you so much for your high nice comment and we are very pleased that you felt our Classic French way to welcome our guest in our Classic R&C. All families are welcome from young children to teenager, also with pets, to share our French way of life : smart casual. When our guests have lunch on the terrace outside overlooking the gardens to have a relaxed time with a good service, it is hard for us to accept in front of them people having picnic with KFC's bags...We are not sure they are coming in a Relais & Châteaux to share this high moment...So for sure the staff was embarassed...because they want to make everybody pleased and sometime it is not that easy because each guest is so specialto us and they tried very hard to adapt themselves to the guest's wishes, but for sure they will share their French way of life because when people travel in a country they want to know about the Culture...

Just a one night stop over while travelling home from a holiday in France. Stayed in a basic room which was more than adequate as the more deluxe rooms are rather pricey.

Lovely gardens and excellent friendly staff. Ate in the restaurant in the evening, not too keen on the decor but the food could not be faulted.

Would definately recommend.
