“Simply stunning property and amazing hosts”
Reviewed August 15, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

What an amazing place, the villa, the pool, the location and the hosts. The house is one of the best holiday rentals that we have ever stayed in. Originally the owners home, it certainly feels like one (rather than a holiday let!). Lots of original quirky features and memorabilia from the owners global travels. The property has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. The owners (Lee & Mike) who also run the cafe next door could not do enough for us whilst we were there, from catering for our daughter who follows a Vegan diet, to booking other restaurants for us. We will definitely go back. Very highly recommended.

“Great accommodation to relax and experience the region”
Reviewed July 30, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

From the very start, Mike and Lee were the perfect hosts, making us feel welcome and well acquainted with the property. They were quick to give us a tour of our home for the week, and were always available to help out.
The property is stunning. They have taken great care to preserve and display the house with its rustic local charm, and ensure the property has the modern touches and amenities. Our room was large and bright, full of character and given a personal touch with Mike's own artwork lining the corridor to our room.
The property is well located to explore the region by car, but my favorite aspect of the location was the morning walk through the back of the property, along trails adjacent to vineyards and countryside.
The pool is fantastic, and ideal for lazing around with a glass of wine. For something more energetic, a 10min drive took us to the Dordogne where kayaks are available for rental.
Overall, its a great location to explore the region, fantastic hosts, and leaves you feeling thoroughly refreshed after a relaxing stay. We will be sure to go back very soon. Thanks guys.

“Blissful break”

Had a fantastic holiday at Le Dit Le Bourg, in a sleepy hilltop village in the Dordogne. Lee & Mike our hosts made our stay wonderful, the house had everything we could possibly need, beautifully styled with their eclectic finds from their travels. Very spacious, which we shared together with. our family and friends. The outside areas were beautifully laid out, eating in various parts of the gardens, the pool was used daily for swims and relaxation. We sampled wines from the local area, that Lee & Mike recommended, they were very knowledgable and were always able to help. There is so much to do in this area, we visited many villages, markets, Bergerac is only 15minutes away, Bordeaux about 11/2 hours, all worth seeing. Eating out in Saussignac, Lee& Mike have a gorgeous cafe, which is open Thursday-Saturday , which is a must, we had a fantastic meal here, please see review on that, worth a visit..Also a little restaurant in the square, which is also worth a visit, if a little expensive. We highly recommend a holiday in Le Dit Le Bourg, and it's wonderful hosts Lee & Mike, hope to see you again....

“Amazing Experience”

We had an amazing time staying here. The accommodation is fantastic, a beautifully maintained traditional property with original features and fantastic artwork dotted around the place, and would happily recommend it on that alone. But it's the hosts (Lee and Mike) that make it an extra special experience, their warmth and kindness make it feel like you are staying with friends (who have an awesome house). I don't normally write reviews but we had such a good time we felt we really should. We would highly recommend staying here.

“Lovely restaurant in the heart of the village”
Reviewed September 16, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

(French below)The restaurant 'le1500' is located in the heart of a charming small village. Making the reservation was very easy, we asked to have a table outside in the garden. The restaurant is a very cosy and nicely decorated place. It is a quiet place where you can fully enjoy the meals that are served. We could between several meals and for the children there was an appropriate alternative. Smooth service, beautiful terrace to sit. We enjoyed the food, it was tasty, well prepared and we didn't have to wait too long. Good wine list! You definitely get value for money in this restaurant. So: nice place, nice staff, nice food, it's a place to recommend! One gimmick of the owners: the name of the restaurant is 'le 1500' but the logo says, in Roman numbers 'MVC' which means in fact '1095'. So you can start a conversation with the owners immediately about this gimmick when you enter the restaurant!

“The perfect holiday!”
Reviewed August 9, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This was our second visit this beautiful place. We loved it so much last year we had two weeks there instead of one this year, which was infinitely better. Mike and Lee are the most warm, relaxed and generous hosts. Should you have any problems at all, or need advice on what to do in the area, they are always on hand to help out. They took us along to a local food/wine event in the village centre - something we'd never have been brave enough to join in by ourselves. We had the most amazing night there with the lovely people of Saussignac village. They also organised a trip around a local vineyard for us, Chateau Feely, which again turned out to be a fantastic experience. Our French isn't too good and they even came along to the vets with us and our dog to translate!
The house itself is absolutely gorgeous and bursting with character. and everywhere you look there is something of interest . It has everything you need for your stay.
Outside, the pool area is stunning and very well equipped. Our three sons spent most of the time in the pool as our weather was perfect. The hosts have a small bistro next door, which is well worth a visit - delicious food in a charming setting. The countryside around is stunning and we had several picnics by the river a few miles away.
We could not have asked for more from a holiday. We were all totally relaxed and had so much fun. We were very sad to leave and will certainly return there. We cannot recommend it highly enough - go see for yourself!

“Carpe diem á la française”
Reviewed June 28, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Quaintly located in the culinary province of the Dordogne in southwestern France lies the idyllic town of Saussignac. Traversing the rolling hills of lushly decked grapevines to get to this destination from Bordeaux is without a doubt a rewarding experience all on its own. The rows of the manicured plots of land hypnotize and put you in a relaxed state of mind, thus prepping you for what is to be perhaps one of the most relaxing refuges left in this manic world.

Arriving at Lieu Dit le Bourg, you can't help but to be in awe of the rich history found in this quintessential French town; an imposing medieval château is the focal point of this community, which directly faces the property. Walking through the doors of this rustically preserved home beautifully captures the spirit of traditional French life starting with the exposed masonry that is reiterated throughout many parts of the house, to the original artisanal woodwork of the staircases that have withstood the test of time.

Original artifacts are spotted throughout the rooms contributing to the "France profonde" feel of this home with the sitting room being one of my favorite places to unwind from an unpredictable passing thunderstorm in the company of a wood-burning fire. Also being fortunate enough to soak up a good amount of sun by the pool, the surrounding nature never ceases to amaze, whether it be the symphony of spring in motion or the sweet scent of blossoming trees and flowers.

I thoroughly enjoyed my sojourn at Lieu Dit le Bourg and recommend it without reservations.
