First time to Santo for us, but 3rd time to Vanuatu, we were more than happy to experience the 60's -70's charm of an 'old school' hotel in Santo. It was perfect for our needs. We were there in a VERY hot spell in March '12, and our basic but clean room was an A/C oasis to come back to, throughout the day, and to get a good night's sleep. The staff were great, of course. You need about a day to read the newspaper clippings, view the masks, & the kustom exhibits in the foyer etc. This joint has nothing happening... in a great way! Dark & cool, helpful staff, would suggest perhaps you don't eat here, we checked the menu & felt it was over-priced. But full points to a sweet old joint that I would def. come back to (a fave hang-out of old ABC journo's of the SP)

Room Tip: We were upstairs, thought I had the room # but not, anything facing the street will be fine

I love diving and so often visit Santo. Staying at hotel Santo whenever I am at Santo has never been a trouble for me. I have put up at this place for thrice and have found it good all these times. The place is good for cleaning and drying your snorkeling equipment. The staffs are friendly and efficient with good mannerisms. They take efforts to ensure that your needs are met while staying at this place. The breakfast provided for free at this hotel is nice. The hotel has a lovely pool with a relaxing space around. The hotel offers only basic facilities. But it is a reasonable place to stay.

Stayed one night here prior to transferring to Aore Resort. Room though a little dated was clean and comfortable. More than adequate for a short term stay. Close to all available amenities. I find the previous post did not reflect our stay at all. Staff were pleasant and helpful, the comment on breakfast I believe was caused by them ordering a cooked breakfast and thought it was included. The hotel gives a free continental (tropical) breakfast which we found pretty standard with cooked items extra. Had dinner there and were pretty happy. They had a prawn dish which we wish we had ordered as mains instead of starters, beautifully crumbed and fried. Too die for. Overall have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, however there is not much doing in the big smoke of Luganville so unless you are into diving it probably is only suited to a short term stay.

The lady that runs this place only wants one thing: all your money (and as soon as possible). Don't expect any service, she only seems friendly if she smells your money. This hotel isn't worth the high prices. She even tried to cheat us at the end. The breakfast was included, but she tried to put in on our account and was angry when I told her that it was included, she wasn't even willing to correct it, we had to insist on it. And she overcharged the costs of our tranfer from the airport, she didn't correct that (so on the way back to the airport we arranged our own transport, we simply took a taxi from the street, far much cheaper). No, we don't recommend this place. What this lady does, is not an honest way of doing business. She only wants money and you may not expect any service. A shame! Warning: dont go here! And don't expect special facilities: the restaurant is bad and the swimming pool is really nothing.

We organised our own dive trip ( 4 people ) to Santo and stayed at the Hotel Santo for 10 days.
We stayed in the rooms out the back which only had fans but as it is there "winter" did not need air conditioning at any stage. The rear rooms are great- not the the most sophisticated but all the basics OK. enjoyed sitting outside at lunch time at the table and chairs in the sun.
Cleaning of rooms was good and staff excellent. Meals in the restaurant were average but convenient if you didn't want to go out. The pool area is great but found the pool temperature cooler than the sea (27c) so only used it on hotter days.
Location is excellent and if diving with Allan Power it is directly across the road. We had good washing/drying area for our gear after diving.
Overall would suggest this hotel is the most convenient for a dive trip. Note that organised dive tours tend to use accommodation much further out of town and not really suitable for cruising around town or going out to other restaurants.

Stayed in Hotel Santo for one week following a wedding in Vila. This is a very charming old hotel, but definitely showing signs of wear and tear. Staying in one of the fan cooled garden rooms which overlooked the nakamal and the pool. Good place to stay while diving as it was easy to clean and dry our snorkelling gear. We had a bar fridge in the room and a kettle, but not much else...

The restaurant was quiet but with nice food, and the breakfast (included in the price) was lovely - fruit, toast and coffee. Staff were friendly but not very forthcoming with information - we had to ask lots of questions.

Would recommend staying here as reasonable price for simple accomodation.

Stayed here for the last night of a three week visit to Santo. Chose because wanted to be near airport in case of mishaps and other establishments in the centre of town appear not as good. Saying this, Hotel is old, well worn. Rooms are large with big onsuit. Bit expensive for what you get. Pool full of screaming children on my visit. Still this establisment fullfilled my requirements. Staff and management efficient and friendly. Had local prawns in restaurant. Good. Could have stayed at Deco Stop but wanted to be in the centre of town.
