This was our 6th trip back to Santo, but our 1st stay at Moyyan and we couldn't fault a thing! My husband and I travelled with my Mum and my Aunt (both in their 70's) and had 3 out of the 5 fares available. All had nice linen, comfy beds & good pillows. There were plenty of towels for both showering & swimming and filtered rain water was used throughout the fares. The unlimited shampoo/conditioner/body wash & hair dryer is a great idea to save guests having to pack all that, particularly as we travelled with cabin baggage only. A nice touch was the organic Tanna coffee and plunger provided in each of our rooms. Each fare had floor to ceiling, gauzed, wooden louvres & a ceiling fan, allowing for great airflow and a great view of Barrier Beach which is just steps from the fare. There are comfortable chairs and a hammock on your private verandah for lolling about and there are beach chairs positioned under the shady tamanu trees on the sand. There are stand up paddle boards, glass bottom kayaks (1 man - or 2) reef shoes and snorkelling equipment available, all great for exploring the reef which is only meters from the beach. A massage or facial, or both, at the Day Spa is a must do! A beautiful way to completely relax and unwind. The restaurant menu changed every 2 days and we thoroughly enjoyed each meal. The manager Tracy and her staff were extremely helpful and thoughtful. All being very mindful of things like turning off the main lights after the last guest retired and keeping noise to a minimum. Including "Hairy MacLeary", Tracy's faithful 4 legged little off-sider who oversees much of what goes on and is a pleasure to have around!! The position of Moyyan is truly stunning...picture post card perfect! Like I said....couldn't fault a thing!!

Room Tip: There are 5 fares. We had fares 1, 3 & 4. All were privately positioned and ocean front. Fare # 5 is the furthest from the restaurant, ocean front and is the most private.

My partner and I visited Moyyan House in October 2012 and loved it.

It was in such a beautiful part of Vanuatu, away from the touristy feel of Port Vila and relatively untouched.

Moyyan was perfect for us - the fares cannot be beaten with a large verandah and hammock to enjoy in the afternoons, to the relaxed but modern feel inside, to the literally 20 steps down to the water.

The manager was very helpful and was able to suggest plenty of things for us to do. We went deep sea fishing with Fabrice and caught a small bluefin and a mahi mahi. We also did the waterfall tour which was amazing and lots of fun. I highly reccomend it. We visited Oyster Island for lunch one day and kayaked to the Matevulu blue hole. It is pretty amazing and so untouched which makes it even nicer. Another day we hired a car and drove up to Champagne Beach and Port Orly. We stopped in at a few places along the way, including the Nanda blue hole and did some snorkelling at Champagne Beach which was good. We had coconut crab for lunch at Port Orly which was delicious. All the beaches were beautiful with white sand and crystal clear water.

The breakfast every morning was nice and they changed it up with a slightly different pastry or yoghurt. The dinner and lunch menu was somewhat limited however it changed every few days and it is no hassle to pop into the town for dinner. If you do, you must visit the French restaurant Restaurant le Jardin des Saveurs - the food is delicious! We also had dinner one night at Deco Stop and Restaurant 1606, and though they were nice enough, they were no where near the same standard as Restaurant le Jardin des Saveurs.

The Spa at Moyyan is nice and relaxing and I enjoyed a facial there one day after too much sun.

The location can't be beat and it truly is a relaxing holiday. We will definitely go back.

This was a return visit to Moyyan, having celebrated our wedding anniversary here 12 months prior. The decision to return again this year was an easy one, we had such wonderful memories of the location and the beautifully warm friendly staff.
Moyyan manages to capture the stunning natural beauty of Santo in a very private and secluded location. Combine this with excellent accommodation, food quality that would only be found in a hatted restaurant if served in Australia, and unmatched attention to detail by Manageress Tracy and her lovely staff. Whether they were restaurant and table staff, day spa and room staff, or the numerous grounds and maintenance staff, all contributed to the warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere of Moyyan.
The rapid rise in popularity over recent years of cruise ships and overcrowded impersonal destinations, especially in South East Asia, has meant locations that can truly lay claim to the description of "Paradise" no longer exist. However, having read many Tripadvisor reviews of Moyyan, the term "Paradise" often appears. We have now spent a total of 17 nights at this enchanting location and honestly believe "Paradise" does still exists, and only 2 1/2 hours travel time from Brisbane.
We have no hesitation in recommending Moyyan House By The Sea to anyone looking for Paradise in the South Pacific. Don't go to Santo if its shopping or night life you are looking for, you will be disappointed. On the other hand, if you wish to escape the crowds, be mesmerized by stunning natural beauty, and be absorbed by the beautiful friendly locals, you will find no better location.

This is our second trip to Vanuatu, our first to Santo and to Moyyan where we stayed for 5 nights in late January 2014. I can only agree with the previous overwhelmingly positive comments about Moyyan. It is in a stunningly, beautiful location, coral literally at the shore line. The physical buildings have been built around the existing trees. As there is a maximum of 5 couples, and all the wonderful staff are genuinely positive and greet you by name as their guest, you feel as is you are joining an extended holiday family. The rooms, whilst modest, have a comfortable king size bed and sheets and linen. Food is good. Moyyan will also book day trips to the various sights on the island with quality guides. The bottom line question is; would I recommend Moyyan or come back – the answer, without a doubt is, YES.
Finally, a general comment that will hopefully assist prospective travelers. This is not, at all, a comment against Moyyan or Santo, but when I do come back I will ONLY be travelling direct to and from Australia. Do not under ANY circumstances travel by domestic air to and from Efate (Port Villa) to Santo. If coming from Sydney, there is one flight per week direct to/from Santo – or fly via Brisbane. Before booking I would suggest you email Tracey the manager for general direct flight option details and book your holiday around direct flights. With direct flights you are assured of a great holiday.
Finally, Moyyan practically supports a local primary school and they desperately need home readers. If you are a chalky, please bring in your bag any home readers your school is culling.

We stayed at Barrier Beach House with our best friends. Shendel and
Shane are the ultimate hosts and their latest Tripadvisor gong is extremely well deserved. Flavia mixes the best caprioska I have ever had and she and Sophi cook lovely meals with the widest smiles. To lie in bed with the shutters on the fare open looking at the turquoise sea and listening to the quite shuffle of the waves is absolute bliss. The water is so warm and crystal clear on your doorstep, it beckons you in. We can't wait to return and are already planning on the next visit. It truly is a paradise - we couldn't think of any way to improve on the experience.

Room Tip: Fares 1 and 2 have the best view. Three new fares being built will have a plunge pool.

Hi Wendyj157,

So pleased to hear that you had such a great time. It was an absolute pleasure having you all stay with us. It was a fun week and yes, I agree, Flavia is definitely the best cocktail maker around. Although it did almost kill me watching you all partake whilst I drank my Soda Water....CRUEL!!

Hopefully we'll see you back here sooner rather than later.

Cheers,
Shendel
