Then again if you haven't seen the movie you might well want to watch it first before coming to Silverton. The owner is a fanatic but fantastic and the exhibition though small is well put together. He's currently unearthing newly found junk from the film set so expect more "genuine" nuts and bolts from the film sets and props. If you start a conversation about any aspect of the film you'll really enjoy yourself.

As a Mad Max tragic this was a pilgrimage that I have been wanting to do for years, even before the museum opened. This was just the icing on the cake. If I had to pick anything as a negative its the "No photos or video" policy for the inside exhibits. But there is no such restriction for the outside vehicles.

I keep up to date with the progress of the Mad Max 4 film "Fury Road" so when I read that it was to be filmed in Broken Hill and as an avid fan, I was straight on the phone to book my flight.
When asked by my B&B why I had come out to Broken Hill I mentioned visiting the Mad Max filming sites and they said "you'll be wanting to visit the Mad Max museum then" at which point I nearly fell over.
You need to hire car as it is a 20km drive from Broken Hill to Silverton. You can't miss the museum as there are very few buildings in Silverton. The museum itself is fantastic with photographs, costumes and two Interceptors (the vehicles). There's also t-shirts etc that you can buy.
I loved it.
