We stayed at The Bay Hotel in Coverack for one night while walking the SW Coast Path and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The room was great, a good size and a splendid view across the bay. We gave our order for dinner when we arrived and it turned out to be first class, lovely fresh vegetables and interesting flavours. Breakfast was similarly good. The whole feeling of the place was friendly and it had none of the stuffy formality that can so easily dominate seaside hotels. In short a great place to stay and were sorry that we were only there the one night. Hopefully we will return sometime.

Sometimes one is disappointed when one goes back to a place one has really liked before. But despite the dull and windy weather the Bay Hotel in Coverack was just as good as ever. With excellent food, well appointed comfortable bedrooms, wonderful views over the sea, a smiling welcoming host, what more could one want for a quiet break away from the hurly-burly of every day life? Go and relax.

We have just returned home from a weeklend away at the Bay Hotel.

A very enjoyable stay. Food is top quality - we savoured every course throughout the weekend. Cooking of the highest quality. At front of house Gina and Tomas made us feel very welcome with first class service. Very nice people - we will come again.

We are regular visitors to Coverack Headland and have often wondered what the Bay would be like. We were not disappointed.

My wife booked a four night stay over the Easter period, attracted by the view over the bay and the village, and its Lizard Peninsula location. There was a 'special offer' for bed, breakfast and dinner. As such, it amounted to a fair bit more than we would have paid had we gone to the I.O.W. and to a very lovely B&B hotel there that we have often stayed at, but Cornwall has been a past favourite area to visit. So, what did we think of 'The Bay'?

Our 'superior' room was smaller than I had expected, but it's an en suite bedroom and quite sufficient, benefiting from a big cuddly bed! The bathroom should, in a 'superior' room, have a shower screen and fittings to allow one to stand up for a shower. But it did not. (My wife adores baths, so this was not an issue for us - others may think otherwise). There is plenty of storage space - even enough for my wife to stand inside the one by the window and frighten the life out of me one morning! The view from the large window was a very fine one, even though the weather was a tad dull and tetchy for the most part. UHT milk for tea/coffee etc? Absolutely! Can't think why this is a problem for some people. Complimentary bottle of water and packet of biscuits also there to have.

Breakfast? The cooked was fresh and spot on. If I were to be 'picky', it would only be in regard to the choice of 'starters', in that I love croissants or 'pain au chocolat', (none), and some 'slice your own' bread to be available. But that is being picky, isn't it? Maybe a wider 'window of time' for breakfast? No, breakfast is fine, as is the gorgeous brown bread for toast. Dinner? Oh dear. We were spoilt. Every one a delicious experience. But what's all this in some comments about people feeling it is 'regimented', and the courses 'whisking through'? We never felt rushed. We were always asked if we wanted a break before our dessert. We have no complaint with the dinner, and feel confident that, had we asked for things to be adjusted to suit us, we would have been accommodated. Coffee in the lounge? We liked this aspect of dinner. It was good to get up and walk to the relaxing lounge for our coffee.

Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay. I, personally, found the stay to be a wonderfully relaxing one, the hotel and the location combining to calm and relax both of us; slowing us down, encouraging us to unwind. The staff, including the cleaners in their smart dress code, were all very nice indeed; approachable and engaging. Pre-ordering dinner not long after having eaten breakfast, and stating what time you wanted it? Not a problem for us. And the 'value for money' question: Well, we thought it a bit over priced, but only marginally so. (Let's not forget that hoteliers work long hours and are entitled to make a decent return on their outlay in time and effort).

Room Tip: Be specific about the size and facilities of the room you want.

We booked one of the Beachcomber rooms on the top floor - small as described but perfectly adequate for the weekend. Had a reasonable size ensuite and a stunning view to the sea from the dormer windows.

We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owner Gina equaled by Thomas the waiter in the dining room. We ate in the hotel both nights and had lovely meals on both occasions. The Crab Tian was an obvious favourite for most guests, Mussels went down a treat and Sole was perfectly cooked and tasty.

There is a very spacious and comfortable lounge with a bar, perfect for pre and post dinner drinks. Plenty of parking and lots to see and do in the area.

Recently spent a few days over New Year here. Food and service were very good. Bathroom very small and steamy as the extractor did not work. Room was spotlesly clean and a fantastic veiw over the bay, but we did think it was very expensive as we have stayed in better 5* hotels for less. We will not be returning and would not recommend to our friends.

Thank you for complimenting our "Spotlessly clean" rooms with "fantastic views" and "very good food and service".
In nearly every hotel, there is an increase in tariff over the Christmas and New Year period to take into account the special nature of the celebratory time of year with increased service costs and public holidays. We do always endeavour to offer good value for money, however, which is why in addition to our usual dinner, bed and breakfast tariff there were complimentary afternoon Cream teas with cakes, evening cocktails and canapes, champagne at midnight, a New Year's Eve Gala Dinner, Champagne Brunch and a substantial firework display on our front garden shot over the Bay.
The hotel was fully booked and many of our guests have rebooked for this year's celebrations.

We have just returned home after having THE best Christmas lunch!! Five delicious courses all served impeccably with a breathtakingly beautiful view of Coverack Bay. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the atmosphere was great. This hotel was recommended to us and I am so glad we decided to book! I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. We are already considering booking for next Christmas so will start saving up next month as we are likely to return with a party of seven!! The lounge is very spacious and full of lovely squishy sofas with a real log fire - bliss!! We even got a Christmas present each - lovely touch! I wish Gina and her lovely staff all the very best for the New Year - they thoroughly deserve it!
