My wife and I went to the restaurant as non residents. Both the food and service were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal. This is definitely the best place for a meal in Coverack and we look forward to returning.

An excellent 3 day break. A warm welcome on arrival, all staff courteous and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is spotlesss. Lovely comfortable room with stunning views across the bay. Food excellent, menu changed daily and every meal was superb. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Views over the bay are stunning, worth getting up early to watch the sun rise.

Undoubtedly a beautiful setting, and a stunning view, the location of this hotel attracts the only positive comments. The room we were allocated was very small with an ensuite that had been almost 'shoe-horned' into the already restricted space. Additionally, the shower in the ensuite operated randomly at variable temperatures. Contrary to some of the other reviews on here, the breakfast provision was decidedly average with little choice on the continental aspect of the menu. The most disappointing aspect of the stay was the attitude exhibited by the lady who appeared to be in charge of the hotel. She was very aloof, inflexible and borderline unhelpful. Sadly this detracted from the approach of the two male staff who were conversely both personable and customer-focused. The potential for this hotel is huge. Less rooms, a bigger choice at breakfast and a manager with some training in customer service seem to be the solutions. There are too many excellent hotels in this area of the country to return to The Bay.

Room Tip: Choose your room carefully. Rooms on the top floor are TINY and have restricted head height.

We do have different room classifications and two of our Classic rooms are small doubles on the 2nd floor. We state in our literature that they are small and we reiterate this on booking,as in deed we informed you. The rooms do have lovely far reaching sea views and double beds but are compact and we are open about this. We can not make a small room a large one but we do price it accordingly.
We hope to have rectified the shower issue. We feel that there is a large choice at breakfast but always welcome comments and will review the contintental aspect going forwards.

This hotel is in a great location with wonderful views. However the standard of the room and food was a disappoinment at this price. Our Superior Bay room was small, the furnishings inexpensive looking & unimaginative. The bathroom was very basic and cramped. The shower made a loud whining noise. When paying £240.00 a night for dinner, bed & breakfast, one expects more. The hospitality tray was no different from what you might get in a basic hotel chain, Nescafé sachets, UHT milk etc, nothing local or imaginative

The management run a very tight ship here, so tight that spontaneity, gaiety & fun are strangled and the establishment marches obediently to the strict timetable. Breakfast is between 8.15 & 9.15. Too late for your early starters & holiday getupandgoeers, too early for your lie-inners and holiday loungeabouters. Dinner is between 6.30 and 8.00pm & must be pre ordered during the day. They are quite strict about this.

Dinner service is impressively swift. The swiftest we have ever experienced. Our 3 course dinner plus wine took 35 minutes from entering the dining room to being catapultated from it. This is what you can expect. You arrive for dinner, you are whisked to the table appointed to you. Your starter is whisked immediately to you then whisked away the moment you have finished. Then, out whisks your main course. As soon as you put down your cutlery, off it is whisked to be immediately replaced with your pudding. This speed of service may well suit the Honeymooner eager to return to their room or the early bird eater wanting to be tucked up by 9pm. If however you are seeking a leisurely or romantic meal you may be disappointed. It's all a bit regimented. The customer feels as if they are processed according to the set regime of the management.

Post dinner coffee is served in the bar/lounge area. This is what you are likely to find there. An elderly man in a striped polo & flat fronted slacks perched on a cream leather sofa humming along to Michael Buble. Across from him sits his wife browsing through the Daily Mail. When you go in there, they stare at you. The atmosphere is hushed, uptight. You talk in whispers.

The Bay Hotel is scrupulously clean, the staff are helpful and polite. The breakfast is very good. Dinner is a disappoinment, fish is not cooked well. The fresh bread & coffee are great. The creme brûlée had a glaze as thick as the top of a fair ground toffee apple.

All in all, much too set in it's ways, lacks ambiance and far far too expensive. The sea view alone does not justify such a high tariff.

We were sad to read that your stay was disappointing and that you found gaiety and fun to be strangled. If you had spoken to us during your stay, perhaps we could have improved your experience. We always welcome guest’s thoughts and constructive feedback and are in the process of reviewing and updating the products on our hospitality trays and are currently organising the installation of a replacement shower.

Our Superior Bay rooms are by most standards, large and contain Super Kingsize beds, two chairs and table to gaze out at the view and a dressing table area. Our shower rooms are relatively small due to the layout of the building but the decor is designed to be calming, mellow and tasteful -not unimaginative as stated and neither are the furnishings inexpensive. Our tariff rates are still far lower than our competitors in the area and are not set to rise in 2013.

In respect to the dining times, we are in a remote part of Cornwall and have found these times to suit the vast majority. We do try and accommodate outside of these times, for instance an early train or a honeymoon breakfast, but have hardly any requests to do so. We would not want any of our guests to feel rushed over Dinner and we regret that you found the service too efficient, guests are more than welcome to request a longer interlude between courses as they so wish.

The comments made about our other guests would seem to be unfair, we hope to offer a relaxing place to stay where everybody is welcome and no one is judged. The point of being on holiday is to relax, perhaps one lady’s Daily Mail in the evening is another person’s double whisky and a raucous laugh with friends or partners. Everyone and every night is different and the fact that over 70% of guests are repeat custom and that many book their next stay on departure would indicate that they do not feel regimented, rushed or unhappy.

This is truly a lovely hotel. I have reviewed a number of hotels in the past for Trip Advisor and this is truly a gem. The hotel stands in beautiful informal gardens with uninterrupted sea views. The cleanliness, service, care and attention to detail are all excellent due to the hotel team working closely together and taking pride in what they do. The professional yet friendly management run a very tight ship and this enables visitors to confidently and fully enjoy all aspects of their holiday
One not to be missed

Room Tip: All rooms are exceptionally well serviced and have a lovely view

One of the best located hotels we have ever stayed at, fabulous uninterupted sea views, almost all the way around.Lovely well tended and cared for gardens.
The food was very good, and so was the service friendly, yet professional.
We were however, slightly dissapointed by the room, which was classed as "large".unfortunately, this was limited as we were in the eaves, which actually restricts some of the room size..I also found the bed very hard, and some things in the room could have done with tweaking , as it was quite expensive it would have been nice to have had coffee filters in the room, instead of sachets and uht portions of milk.
We would go there again as the food was excellent, and they are dog friendly.

We have just returned from a long weekend at this hotel and yet again we had a wonderful time. The food was excellent, Gina and her staff were most welcoming and the hotel was so comfortable and relaxing. Tomas, the waiter, is a joy and makes sure everything in the dining room runs smoothly. Coverack is a joy, a typical unspoilt Cornish village.
