We have just returned from spending 2 glorious weeks at this lovely quiet, clean, friendly site. This is a family run site and we found everyone to be extremely helpful and friendly. It is true to say that the toilet/shower blocks are a little dated, but during our visit they were always spotlessly clean and well kept. Although we had no children in our party we could see that this would be a very safe place to bring children, with a large play area, including a huge open grass area for ball games etc.The site is set in a wonderful location with all the delights of the Lizard Peninsular close to hand. The local Coverack harbour is an absolute gem with its brightly coloured fishing boats, fish & chip shop, cafe, restaurant, hotel and gift shops. A very short drive will find you in St Keverne where you will find, amongst other things, a bakery selling fresh bread and pastry products all baked on the premises, a small convenience store, 2 pubs, a butchers selling wonderfull fresh meats for the barbeque, a post office and a newsagents.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Little Trevothan is situated in the hamlet of Trevothen, just outside the picturesque fishing village of Coverack. The village is a short walk away of just under a mile along the lane, and retains much of its original charm and atmosphere. The beach at Coverack is a large, sheltered, crescent shaped bay with sand at low tide, and has many rock pools to explore at mid tide. The beach is ideal for swimming, and also attracts lovers of water sports, such as windsurfing, snorkelling and scuba diving amongst others. Along from the beach you will find the harbour which was built from the local green serpentine rock, some of the oldest geological strata known to exist. There are two car parks at either end of Coverack, and many facilities including toilets, café, gift shop, ice creams, pub and restaurants. Little Trevothan Camping and Caravan Park has been awarded the AA 3-pennant grading. The park is a spacious, clean and well-tended ten and a half acre site in a beautiful and secluded setting with no main roads nearby, providing the perfect location for a relaxing holiday. We offer self-catering static holiday caravans and generously sized camping and touring pitches on level ground, with or without electric, all at excellent rates. Our site has a relaxed atmosphere, and we welcome families, couples, dogs, backpackers, youth organisations, university students and divers alike. Little Trevothan is an ideal base for exploring the Lizard Peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are plenty of picturesque coves to discover including the stunning Kynance Cove, and the villages are picture book perfect with thatched cottages and fleets of fishing boats with their catches of fresh crab and lobster. The peninsula also offers horse riding, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, diving, fishing and of course walking on the South West Coastal Path. Within a short drive you can visit a number of attractions including Flambards Theme Park, The Gweek Seal Sanctuary, the tropical gardens of Trebah or Glendurgan. A few more miles will take you to Paradise Park, the Maritime Museum, St Michael's Mount and the Minack Theatre for a matinee or evening show in the open air, overlooking the sea.
