Visited this based on reviews as I am new to the area.
I was surprised at the cost per person but was starving so stayed seated.
It was fairly busy for a Friday in January.
The decor was pleasant but we were seated next to a table of drunken men on a stag and also next to a window which is single glazed and very draughty.
I think a thick velvet curtain should help!
I could see it had been recently decorated and a heater was nearby but the window was an issue.
The waiters and waitresses were very friendly.
The food was very average and portions were fairly small so we easily finished all starters and mains and ordered more.
I doubt I'll go back due to the price / quality ratio. Didn't feel like a good value place and also not much meat in dishes.
The duck spring rolls were like spring rolls with a strand of duck in.
The front door also slams really loudly and is in need of a slow closing arm !

Excellent food, well cooked and presented. Very good service. Although we could have chosen a time, took their advice to arrive a little early as they were expecting a very large party. Wine list is absolutely fine for a Chinese Restaurant, and the Chilean Sauvignon was excellent

We (4 diners) took advantage of the New Year Special menu and had 6 dishes from the starters and the main course selections. We were welcome to request more but the first 6 on each course was quite sufficient. The food was very well cooked, tasty and hot when served which is not always the case when a restaurant is full with parties and on a special evening. The first table we were offered was very close to a table of fairly noisy young people and we were able to move which to another table which was welcomed by us.

The restaurant was very busy so we were pleased to be given a table despite not having booked. We chose the all you can eat menu, as it appeared to be good value (how wrong we were!) and were treated like second class citizens as soon as they realised we didn't want the a la carte.

The starter arrived before our wine (we ordered house rosé and were presented with a bottle of cheap Matteus – which neither of us minded too much as we weren't expecting anything fancy). The mixed platter of hor d'ouvres we chose was presented (or rather plonked) on a plate with no garnish or presentation whatsoever – it was tasty, but we were starting to feel pretty unwelcome. Around this point a group of six arrived for a birthday meal and discovered that the table they had reserved was too small, and so two members had to perch on either end. By this point we had a pretty bad feeling about the rest of the meal and we started to wonder why it was so full of locals.

Half an hour after we finished our starter, my boyfriend asked if the duck would be arriving soon, the waiter just shrugged and went to the kitchen. It arrived 5 mins later, the waitress mumbled something about a miscommunication and hurried off. Again, it was tasty but badly presented.

The wait for our final course was even longer, so we ordered more wine. The food was nice, especially 'fortunate king prawns', but by this point we had written the whole thing off as a bad experience and just wanted to finish our food and get out! When we finally got the bill, we were surprised that everything came to over £70, so my boyfriend questioned the waitress – we had chosen an all you can eat option at around £12 per head, and it turned out that the

We were a fan of the restaurant before the refurb, and returned last week for a meal. We were really pleased that the quality is still there, and still think this is one of the best places to get chinese food in the area.

Only minor complaint was the wine list. I'm not suggesting they suddenly start stocking a huge range with prices up into the hundreds, but I think the list is limited and overpriced. We shared a bottle of rosé (I compromised as my husband doesn't drink white) and all that was on offer was Mateus rose and cost somewhere around the £16 mark.

But overall a great meal (as ever) and we will be sure to return!
