“Famous place for trekking milestone and awesome views of Himalaya ranges”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

Most people say Kalapatter peak climbing is tough, but being a challenge lover me and my guide Kancha planned for a early morning climb at 4.30am in freezing climate of -15 degrees Centigrade using torches. Took around 100 minutes to reach top and waited for sunrise. During that waiting time, I got to view excellent views of Himalayan ranges

“Spectacular view!!”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Reaching the top of Kala Pathar is challenging. Climbing Kala Pathar is tough due to the altitude, but the reward is fantastic ones you reach the top. The wiew over the Khumbu glacier and to see the sun rise behind Mount Everest is just amazing!!!!

“Mount Everest view from Kala Pattar Nepal”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

Mountain trekking in Nepal is an expierence I recommend to anyone who loves mountains. The trek to Kala Pattar starting from village of Jiri is like a pilgrimage and leads to one of the best places to see Mount Everest. The trek leads through many small Nepalese villages, with views of many mountain tops. The walking has a positive effect on the body and the soul, and therefore the trek also is a kind of therapy to bring both the body and mind again in a healthy balance. You can meet a lot of local people (Sherpa's) and tourists from everywhere along the trek, and all the time the trekker can enjoy the most beautifull sceneries with wild rivers and majestic mountains like Ama Dablam. The friendly local people and buddhism give the trek also a spiritual meaning.
After passing the village Namche Bazaar, the trek gets wilder, the altitude higher and lodges more basic. The trekker should have good acclimatization scheme (increase max 700m per day after 3,000m altitude) in order to prevent getting deadly altitude sickness. And then the reward. Walking up Kala Pattar mountain of 6,500m will get you grasping for air but after one hour you will reach the top with breathtaking view of Chomolungma , Sagarmatha or Mount Everest, with clear view on Ice Fall, Hillary Step and the summit. There is one risk of making this trek: you will want to do it again and sense again the feeling of happiness when standing eye to eye with the world's highest peak. Namaste!

“the highest point I ever reached !”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

We started at 4am in the dark to climb to ‘Kala Pattar’ peak. At (5545 m) the highest point I ever reached. No torch and quite a dangerous narrow path to the point which gave the most amazing view across the Himalaya. The point of leaving so early was to catch the sun as it rose over the mountains which later I regret as it did not help to take good picture for Everest. Everest itself doesn’t look beautiful comparing to the other amazing peaks around it!
. As you climb to 5500m over huge rocks trying not to fall into the gaps and keep your balance on the snow you are also gasping for air because there is less oxygen which is also fuelling the crazy headache you have.
We spent about 20 minutes than we descent down which was much easier than ascending specially with the appearing of the sun which gave a pleasant warming to my frozen fingers!
