Following awful service (and cold coffee) on our way to Durban, regrettably we decided to give Midlands Kitchen another chance. What a mistake! We received our coffees and proceeded to wait for food. After an unrealistic waiting period for ordinary sarmies, my husband enquired about our food, only to find that it was sitting in a quiet corner collecting dust!

Anyway, the chips were disgusting and brown, unsalted and with no sauce provided. The ‘chicken and mayo’ sandwich should be aptly named ‘lettuce and mayo’, gross! And let’s not forget about the sorry excuse for a veg sandwich - dry, no hummus as promised.

Also, don’t expect to get any sort of response from the waiters, whose excuse is ‘we couldn’t find you’, meanwhile the kitchen is not even half full, and us three sitting there are really not that difficult to find...

I’m ecstatic to say that we won’t be returning and warn all the travelers out there!

Great stop for fuel, snacks or a full meal. The Kitchen section is varied and easy to navigate. You order what you want from any counter (think food court) and pay when you e it.

We on way to JHB and decided to stop here. We grabbed one of their pepper steak pies and a sausage roll. Well it was real steak pieces and real sausage. Absolutely delicious. We added coffee to go and a crispy sweet sneaky sticky bun with cream cheese and it was like a croissant mix with this sweet cream cheese on top. I had chocolate croissant. Well worth a visit better than the stops that have the normal chain restaurants. This is real homemade food 12 out of10
