“A very lucky find”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

We had our trip all planned and booked, only to discover that we were missing one night en route. We emailed Joyce and they were able to fit us in. The room was exceptional, beautifully appointed and comfortable. The building is a beautifully renovated and a pleasure to be in. The breakfast was delicious, and the hosts, Joyce and Ray, were very friendly and helpful. We were sorry that we only had the one night to spend there!

Welcomed by the hostess Joyce on my arrival, with tea and biscuits. A great room with lots of character. Nice touches like extra blankets.
The breakfast was tailored to however I wanted it.
I had extended my trip in Wales after a conference in Cardiff and wanted to do some walking.... Joyce and Ray offered some fab tips of where to go.
these hosts know what it takes to make people feel welcome and comfortable.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Autumn room which was lovely.

Thank you for the review and very glad to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and had a great time walking in the area. There are so many walks in the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains that guests are spoiled for choice. Hope to see you back to do some more!

The granary is well-situated for exploring the Black Mountains and/or Brecon Beacons. The hosts, Joyce and Ray, are very attentive and respond readily to particular queries or requests. Rooms are comfortable, very well stocked, and quiet at night. (Just ask them to turn the clock chimes off if you don't want them! Joyce and Ray will oblige without any fuss.)
There is a very varied breakfast menu, and you will certainly be well-fed in preparation for the day ahead. Joyce can give you plenty of useful advice about walks, places to visit, and venues for your evening meal. The Bridge End Inn, in Talgarth, serves excellent food, and is only 15 minutes walk from the Granary. But there are a number of other good places just a short drive away.

Room Tip: Our room, "Summer", has an armchair on either side of the window, and a huge bathroom with...

So glad you enjoyed your stay with us and that we could help with information for your walks and visits locally. We try to make sure all our guests are happy during their stay, even stopping our grandfather clock! One guest two weeks ago wanted us to start it so that he could hear it chime!

Thank you for sending your review and recommendations, it is much appreciated.

We had a fantastic time at The Granary. You cannot fault anything about this place. The accommodation, the breakfast and the hosts were all amazing. We would recommend this place to anybody. Our friends were with us this time and they couldn't thank us enough for bringing them here. My daughter has expressed that she would like to go back for her birthday.

All my recommendations for this perfect B&B just in the middle of the Black Mountains. We had a great time and enjoyed everything about the place. Loved the breakfast and the lunch package for our walks. The room we were staying in "Autumn" was very nice and clean with a large bathroom and a view to the surrounding mountains and garden. If we go back to Wales we will definately pass by The Granary again.

I booked into this b&b primarily because it was close to the artist studio next door where I was doing an oil painting course. I was so pleased I did because I found a wonderfully comfortable and spacious room, excellent breakfasts and a very warm welcome from Joyce and Ray. This is an immaculate home from home, beautifully appointed, warm, cosy and if I stay in the area again would be my very first choice! Joyce and Ray gave valuable advice about the area and there is an amazing attention to detail for every little thing you might need, even before you know you need it! The Granary is in a peaceful beautiful location near a delightful village with an excellent butcher ad deli which I visited on my departure having tasted the food in the hearty breakfasts. I stayed alone but felt very comfortable in doing so. The value for the four nights I stayed was incredible - I would not hesitate in recommending this venue to all! I'll be back!

Room Tip: I stayed in a room at the front which was beautiful. I had the most enormous bathroom with a roll to...

We booked into The Granary after reading all the lovely reviews on Trip Adviser! And they were all correct. We had a lovely warm welcome by Joyce and Ray. The room was immaculate, cosy and comfortable. It's situated in interesting surroundings in the grounds of a closed Victorian mental health hospital. Very near the nice little town of Talgarth. The breakfast was delicious and perfectly cooked. We were given good advice on local points of interest and interesting routes. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this excellent bed and breakfast to anyone.
