“Blwyddyn newydd dda !”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

We , husband , daughter and I had been invited to a wedding nearby on New Year's Eve and were fortunate to find The Old Radnor Barn not only open for business, but, Steve offered his services as chauffeur for the evening-how much more customer orientated can you be ? Steve and Lyn are excellent host and hostess and really nothing is too much trouble. We had the family room which comprises 2single beds and a huge double bed with one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever slept on ! Tea/coffee making facilities plus TV and DVD player-free WiFi too which is worth mentioning. There is a wealth of information provided in a folder about the house and the area-so much to see and do close by. The ensuite has a shower-no bath- and beware of sloping ceilings.
Our breakfast the next morning was a feast to welcome in the New Year-beautiful bacon and sausages. There is an abundance of choice , however, should you not wish to have the full Welsh breakfast-smoked salmon anyone ? Pleasant dining experience with the gentle melodies of the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir playing in the background. ( Steve is a member )
This really is a delightful spot and deserves more than a brief overnight stay- the hospitality is first rate and it is little wonder that guests make regular return trips. Steve and Lyn have worked really hard to develop The Old Radnor Barn and have further plans in the pipeline-thank you both, you may see us later in the year if only to try an afternoon tea !

This B & B is exceptional. Nicely situated at the edge of Talgarth . The owners have decorated and maintained this converted barn beautifully. The breakfast is excellent and of course served by Stephen the proud quintessential Welshman as you listen to the choir he sings for . This is everything good about Wales ! Also pop into the newly opened Bridge End Inn , the food is excellent

Interesting, attractive place to stay - a converted barn in a small market town, Talgarth. It's near Hay- on -Wye for books and the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons for exploring and walking. It is run by a delightful family. Lyn and her son Cai made us feel welcome and fed us fresh eggs from their own chickens for breakfast. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We will definitely return one day.

This was perfectly located for us. The owners, Steve and Lyn were very welcoming and the breakfast was great as was the room, which was quiet and very comfortable. We only stayed for one night but would easily have stayed longer and explored what the Brecons have to offer. Next time.

Taking into account my mobility issues, this turned out to be perfect. We had a ground floor room which was presented to a very good standard. Lyn and Steve were very welcoming, which added to a fantastic weekend. Plenty of literature available as well as their own recommendations made daily destination choices a lot easier. Breakfast was substantial and very nice Lyn (even though Steve tried to steal your thunder).
Old Radnor Barn proved to be a very good place to base ourselves for a few days as it was well placed to give us easy access to the National park and the Black Mountains. I really wish we'd stayed longer.

We wanted to find a nice b & b in the Brecon Beacons national park, as my partner had always wanted to visit this area. We were not disappointed we had a very friendly welcome from Steve and Lin, the accommodation was brilliant, clean, new and spacious. My partner is disabled and the shower seat was a bonus, although a grab rail would be welcome. Lin's large welsh breakfasts were delicious and satisfying well into the afternoon. Talgarth is a very pleasant village and a good point to start exploring. There is plenty to see and visit in the surrounding countryside. The only downside was that the sat nav took us to he wrong side of the car park.

Room Tip: We had the Lavender room, it was very comfortable.
