The Fountain Inn
Reviewed April 4, 2010

We went to the Fountain in Ingbirchworth on Easter Saturday night; it’s about six years since we last went for a meal and by the atmosphere of the pub and the cost of the sweets it will be another six years before we go again. We arrived at the Fountain at around 07.30 pm where there were no more than four couples in the entire pub/restaurant. The meals were very basic and the vegetables were only half cooked. We did complain but we got the usual sorry. We ordered sweets which were very basic apple crumble and three scoops of ice cream (£4.50 each) for this type of basic pub restaurant. The atmosphere was poor and quite, at 09.30pm when we left we were the last couple in the Fountain the doors were closed behind us and only staff was left in the pub.
I would suggest that the management take a look at the competition where they are offering two meals for £10.00 in this recession and better quality meals.
Sorry Fountain but you need to pull your socks up not your prices.

Shocked to be honest !!! visited this pub a couple of years ago where we had a lovely meal said we would go back well we did last week and i wish we had never bothered yes it had been a while since our last visit but could not believe how downhill the place had gone. walked into bar place was dead no one accept us and a very large plasma TV screening sport ordered drinks and sat down was very hungry so ordered noticed meals now a lot cheaper than before but we thought we would give it a chance moved tables as began to feel cold place needed heating on !! Then noticed tables around use needed cleaning there was a smell of stale beer. food arrived by now i lost my appitite typicle fried fare nothing special at all. No one else came in during the time we spent in there if your out that way carry on driving past the landlord spent his time sitting in front of the plasma TV shouting at it can't believe how different it is will never go back horrible experiance such a shame !!!!

Hardly leisure as attending funeral locally. We've stayed/socialised there on many occasions over the years. As with previous reviewer tried to charge more for room on arrival. Had long journey from the South West & didn't need hassle. New proprietor ranted (I mean completely lost it) blaming employee for quoting wrong price saying he was firing her, he actually dialled her number when we were there and thrust phone at my husband.....bizarre. We left. Not a sole in the bar let alone b&b, if they can afford to turn away business on a bleak January evening best of luck.

Our room had not been cleaned and my 3 year old daughter found a half drunk beer bottle and can in the bedroom cupboard! Service indifferent, well meaning but rather abrupt and rude. Food was nice but overall I've stayed in better places for less money.

Called in for a meal after seeing adverts, sat for 35 mins with no meal when we queried "where is our meal" we were told there has been a problem, What, we forgot to place the order..............
No appology, when I gavve our drinks back and sid we were leaving, we were told, it was our fault we should have told them earlier that our meals had not come.
The place was quiet, I am not surprised why, we will not be goin back
