This motel ( yes a motel ) some of reviewers were obviously expecting a 5 star hotel for $100 a night - offers typical fairly small motel rooms with million dollar views - the location is sensational. NB There was still plenty of room for our plentiful luggage & the rooms were spotlessly clean

The receptionist was the most together & helpful member of staff that we met on a 15 day trip in NZ. They were happy for us to leave the car overnight whilst we did the doubtful sound cruise with Chris from doubtful-sound.com ( FANTASTIC)

As others have said u can sit outside yr room enjoying the views, maybe lucky & see a deer walk by. The pub restaurant next door was very busy & very good. Breakfast is taken in separate room & was also excellent - our total bill for dinner & breakfast for 2 was NZ $79

If doing Doubtful sound cruise i would definately recomend staying here rather than Te Anau.

We stayed here one night. The view of the lake is what made this place nice. A great sunset. The rooms were nothing special but clean and nice view from the window. Location is what makes hotels here I believe!
Just stayed a few hours in the evening then left in the morning. A nice liquor store around the back to buy some wine and beer.

Highly recommended! Units are very nice with bedroom area, TV, en suite facilities, and sitting area outside each room with stunning views of Lake Manapouri. Pub and bottle shop located next door to get a bottle of wine or beer to enjoy while looking out over the lake and relaxing. Rooms are clean and quiet. Only complaint was shower heads are set at about 5 feet high making life a bit difficult for the taller set. Otherwise couldn't be better!

If you are taking the Doubtful Sound cruise and staying over in Manapouri, if you have time, it might be best to look for other lodging. There are single cabins at a nearby facility. This is a two-star property, strip-motel. The rooms are small and tired. The plus is convenience to the cruise terminal. Another plus is a restaurant.

The Manapouri Motor Inn is the closest accommodation to Doubtful Sound but avoid it. It's a dump. Cobwebs in the room. Sagging bed. Islolated location and terrible food in their restaruant. I was served raw eggplant.
Stone steps so inaccessible to anyone in wheelchair or using a cane, etc.
Lots more choices for sleeping and eating in Te Anau which is just a bit further from the ferry to Doubtful Sound.

We were advised by the guest who stayed that she would be writing a review on us. When I asked for feedback she would not elaborate. What she has omitted to say is that our staff were very helpful to her spending over 2 hours helping her sort out a problem with her rental car.
This lady was refered to us from a local B&B who had also experienced some dificulty in dealing with her.
I am sorry that this lady had a bad experience here. Had she told me what the complaints were when I asked her us at the time we would have tried to amend any of her greviences.
