We booked one night (dinner, bed and breakfast) as a romantic get away and we were really happy with our stay. The Heifer room is quirky with thoughtful additions like a jacuzzi corner bath, chocolate milk shakes and stars in the ceiling. We had drinks in the residents outdoor garden in the afternoon in baking sunshine, reading our books and relaxing before a 3 course dinner in the restaurant. We ate from the residents menu which was lovely and had excellent fish options (I think I would've balked at the a la carte prices). The breakfast was superb, with varied hot options that one might often have to pay extra for, and really good homemade granola.
We didn't pay the service charge however, as our room wasn't ready on arrival (2.30), there were other people's drinks on our bill (taken off when mentioned) and the bar had run out of at least two of the house wines. Given that the non-house ones were really expensive I would have expected to be offered the next alternative at the house price but this was not the case.
A really lovely stay however, we would go again.More
