“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

We stayed for two nights 14th 15th May 2013 as a base for walking in the Dales. Excellent accomodation and setting in an uspoiled village. The staff and proprietors were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts, with a great variety of fresh fruit and cereals and the option for a 'Full English' to follow, was plentiful varied and cooked to order. It was more than enough to see us through to the evening meal without a need for any lunch. We ate in the inn both evenings and the quality of the food was a very good standard for 'pub fayre'. I can certainly recommend the 'Three birds game pie'. which was cooked to order and well worth the wait! The real ale choice was kept well and good quality, and slipped down a treat. A well run model of a 'community pub' saved by the village folk...well done! We will be back!

“Wonderful.”

Found this pub whilst out geocaching. Absolutely wonderful, and spicy pepper soup to die for - can I have the recipe? Great welcome too.

I feel a need to write about the amazing toilets too - spotless and proper towels to dry hands on which you then pop in the laundry basket. Cannot fault this place and will definitely be back again. What a great advert for community enterprise.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013 via mobile

A small quaint pub with a beautiful bedroom, and excellent home cooked food. The little touches in the room....... China teacups, hot water bottle, homemade biscuits, binoculars, to take in the breathtaking view from the window and scented candles all added to the quality and comfort of our stay, perfection as far as we were concerned. Can't wait to go back, when there's no snow!

“Absolutely charming and delightful place to stay. I cannot recommend it more!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

We recently stayed here for three nights on the way from Scotland to London. We wanted somewhere in a beautiful location, that was cosy, unfussy, with good food and beer/wine. This was it! From the minute we arrived to the moment we left we were looked after so well. Kimberley and Allan (and the team) are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, with a variety of locally sourced options on the evening menu, and breakfast was everything you could ever want. The room was very comfortable and warm, tastefully decorated, and the underfloor heating in the bathroom a particular treat. The pub had a lovely villagey buzz to it. Three nights wasn't enough!

We stayed here for 3 nights and chose to eat every evening. The food was very good. The beers are fantastic and the service just perfect. Thank you.
