Once an old wine cellar, this beautifully renovated inn a few miles outside of Carcassonne, provided us with a relaxing and peaceful stay. Each room is named for a different grape variety which reflects the history of the facility. The peaceful nature of the inn can be attributed to the abundant use of the original stone, minimal clutter of furnishings, use of earthtones, and the presence of the blue water of the pool in the center of the courtyard. Hosts Gayle and Frederic and their adorable daughter Anais were perfect hosts. If you have a car, and are visiting Carcassonne, give this place a try. It's located about 15 minutes from the city; however, be aware that GPS may try to take you down one-way streets the wrong way in this little town.

3 weeks in france and this was the BEST accomodation of the trip. Everything about the place was 1st class....cost, cleanliness, atmosphere, hospitality and especially the toast and English breakfast tea for breaky ( after all the bad coffee and croissants). We arrived quite late in the evening and the English speaking hosts could not have been more accomodating. It was nice to be out of the city and yet close enough to go explore. Very peaceful, no traffic, bed was extremely comfy......I can't speak highly enough . HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Le Relais was the perfect base for us to explore the Languedoc -Roussillon area. My husband, our friend and I were treated to wonderful hospitality and felt very much at ease staying at Le Relais. The old wine cellar has been done up to an incredible standard and the bedrooms are all beautiful (we were shown the other rooms also). What we loved also was the spacious lounge, relaxed breakfast area and stunning pool and surrounds. Just wish we had had more time to sit around that pool!

Le Relais comes highly recommended, you will not be disappointed in any way. This B&B is far better value than any hotel you will ever stay at.

A haven of peace, this chambre d'hote is amazing. You have to see the photos of what it looked like before the transformation to understand the vision of the owners. Each of the bedrooms has been designed individually with careful thought given to the furniture and decoration. The hallway, lounge and dining room are light and airy looking out onto the swimming pool and garden. Even the staircase has been designed in white stone with the original stone walls.
The chambre d'hote is situated in a lovely little village in the middle of nowhere but only a short distance by car from the bustling city of carcassonne which is well worth a visit, especially the old Cite which is a world heritage site. Other fantastic places to visit are the safari park near Narbonne, about an hour's drive away and the caves in local villages.
Each morning we had a lovely continental breakfast together with fruit, yoghurts and juices served to us by the owners who took the opportunity to tell us about the area and answer our questions about restaurants and activities. I would like to thank them for their conscientiousness, friendliness and concern for all their guests.
