I really liked staying in La bastilla. It's lovely weather and beautiful landscapes will make you come back.

Security is not that much, La bastilla should have a dog or more to take care of it.

It's a place not only for couples, but for families or business or friends or solo. either way, it's a great place to stay.

Come and enjoy staying in La bastilla where u can pay with credit card.

Room Tip: Just a quick review. If u are staying in camping desk, it will be a little noisy at night while wind...

La Bastilla Eco-Lodge makes for a wonderful place to spend a couple of nights.

The setting is stunning, surrounded by cloud forest. The accomodation is very good quality, and there is even hot water in the showers from the solar panals, something which is great (and very rare) if you are to make the most of the surroundings and spend the day hiking and exploring.

The fact that the La Bastilla is also doing great work with the local communities also makes it a very impressive place to stay at.

The journey to La Bastilla can be quite tricky if you don´t have your own transport. I took a bus from Managua to Jinotega, then from Jinotega to the turn-off point to La Bastilla, and then had to walk about 10kms to get to the hotel. Its a nice walk, but if your not up for the hike, you would need to consider alternative transport options.

La Bastilla Ecolodge stay and coffee farm tour was certainly one of the many highlights of our trip to Nicaragua. Was a great way to see the beauty of the highlands of Nica. Touring the coffee farm during harvest time was well worth the time. Very comfortable stay, good food, and warm, friendly people. This great combination definitely made the trip for us! Just wish we could have spent more time there.

Room Tip: Can't imagine any rooms not having a great view, you are surrounded by stunning scenery.

My husband and I stayed in La Bastilla Ecolodge for 2 nights. We had on dormitory for ourselves, the shower, beds, everything was very clean. It's a little piece of paradise, in aboundant greenery. Each dormitory has a balcony where you can dream, listen to the multitude of birds and have a incredible view on the mountains. Sandra is doing a great job at cooking, she is always smiling and the food is good, but not very tasty. Escarlet (a young woman from Nicaragua speaking very well English) is always ready to help you in many ways, but very dicreet too. We went for a bird watching tour and our guide, Ricardo, was very knowledgable, he loves those birds. We recommend this place to everybody who likes nature and peace. The access is not easy by bus, taxi and walking for the last bit, but worth it.

Fabulous setting in the cloud forest about a 45 minute drive from the city of Jinotega. Could be fabulous if done properly, but, unfortunately lack of understanding of the hospitality business resulted in mediocre accommodations and worse service. Despite that, a stay in this paradise like location is well worth the effort. Minimal lighting in the room, tepid water at best for a shower, dinner portions abundant but tasteless, and gave up on breakfast pancakes after waiting over 35 minutes. Mud boots required for certain hikes, but none were available, and no advance warning given. Also, hotel cannot be reached without a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

This Eco-lodge is so fantastically hidden away from the hustle bustle that once you have, finally, reached there, negotiating the very rough road (you need 4X4 for the last leg of the trip), it is really worth it! The first thing we did was to put our sweaters on. It must have been, at least, 60 degrees Fahrenheit, if not lower!
The lodge is beautifully constructed (on stilts one side) to make you feel you are above the canopy in a serene atmosphere, completely immersed in greenery. All cabins have balconies (two rooms adjoined with a sharing balcony) facing the greenery and the rooms 5 & 6 have the best view with the mountains faraway and a glimpse of a lake (when it is clear). The Room is very comfortable with great mattresses on beds and solar-powered hot water (which is needed here!).
The students who work at the lodge are great, though a bit overwhelmed when all the cabins are full. The food is fantastic! Whoever taught these female students to cook really should get a prize because I think this is the best food I have had in Nicaragua so far!
There are guided tours according to the manual in the room. However, we went hiking on our own. It was very muddy, but scenery was gorgeous. It seems like it rains a lot there, so one needs to go prepared for it. No leeches unlike in many other countries with the same climate!
Two recommendations: Please light the entrance to the lodge better so that the visitors who arrive after the sunset would not get lost. Although there is a welcome sign, you cannot see it at night, and also the entrance is in a slope and the dimly lit reception area cannot be seen. Solar lighting can solve this problem easily. We kept driving for another kilometer and half until the road got treacherous (Oh yes, you need 4X4!!) and we could not even turn around. I got out of car and walked up in the mud to see if I could see a sign of a lodge in the pitch dark. When I returned to the car two young boys from the lodge had come looking for us with flash lights to tell us that it was the wrong way!
The serenity of the place puts you in a trance and you just love the noble silence! But unfortunately the wall that separates the two cabins is very thin and you hear every movement from the other room. So, if you happen to get neighbors who are loud, it becomes a bit sad. I know everybody has the right to enjoy their free time the way they choose, but if there is, at least, a sign someplace visible asking people to respect silence when neighbors are around because they all share the same balcony, and also a paper- thin wall, it would be nice.

Room Tip: Cabins 5 & 6 have the best view!

This is a really nice place. It’s reasonably priced, the food they serve is excellent, it’s on a coffee plantation so the grounds are beautiful and the staff is wonderful. It’s almost like staying a friend’s place because the gals who run it (Christine and Escarlett) are so nice as is their local staff. We almost felt guilty for not pitching in to help clean up (almost). There are lots of places to hike and the tours they offer are cheap, fun, informative, informal and usually include just a few people. It is a little bit rustic (it’s an Eco-Lodge, after all) and a little hard to get to but definitely worth it. Plus, proceeds from the lodge help support the local school.
