We visited the winery for lunch on Sunday during the Labour Day long weekend. Despite the short reservation notice the restaurant manager managed to fit us in. The restaurant was full and busy. We started with some very tasty olives and bread, and then just had mains of pork belly, back strap lamb salad and smoked duck breast, wild mushroom risotto. Both the duck breast and risotto were cooked beautifully, the duck lightly smoked and just pink, and the risotto creamy and al dente. The lamb was also cooked nicely pink and tender. The pork belly was melt in the mouth and the sauce light. We tasted a number of the red wines before lunch. Most did not appeal to our palates. The various Bordeaux style blends of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc very heavy with tannins overpowering flavour of the fruit. The Syrah was like a true Rhone style and was my pick of the reds and went nicely with our meals. Most of the wine in the restaurant is available by the glass. It was a busy day and perhaps the service could have been a bit sharper.

We always like to hear an honest review of our wines. We know everyones palate is different but I'm glad you liked all your grazing meals!

Personally the Syrah is my favourite too! Come back for a sip one day soon!

I went to Rochford with some friends to see Neil Finn and Paul Kelly. It was a perfect afternoon with great weather and the whole performance was very professional - excellent sound, plenty of space. The concert was on a hill so it was easy to see. You can´t take alcohol in of course because it is a winery but the drinks are reasonably priced and there was a really good selection of food ranging catering for both the health conscious and the more glutenous! Anyway, overall the ambience and surroundings were perfect for two of Australasia´s finest songrwiters - a very aussie afternoon in all!

We visited Rochford Wines outside of Melbourne as part of an excursion with Celebrity Cruises. Celebrity, being the high end line that it is, seems to know the best places for lunch, and we were definitely not disappointed here. Lunch was lovely, ocean trout which I would have called salmon, was cooked and seasoned perfectly - fresh, moist. The braised beef cheeks were extremely tender and flavorful - they had clearly been slow cooking for some time to have reached the flavor profile which they presented. The accompanying veg was expertly prepared. The chocolate cake and the cheesecake, well, I'm not sure which I preferred, both were wonderful.

Main act finished 1 hour earlier than normal, bar closes early, support bands not up to scratch. This showed in the smaller than the norm. crowd. Rochford are going to have to pull their socks up to get people back. These events have been going downhill for a while. If they are going to make changes then clearly stipulating what they are, would be good for a start. Not big on communication.

Hi Maganjo

Thank you for your feedback we always welcome our visitor’s comments at Rochford Wines in order to improve our service offering and exceed expectations.

We would just like to clarify a few of the issues you have raised during the most recent event and A Day on the Green in December 2012.

A Day on the Green is an Australia wide event organised by Roundhouse Entertainment and, as such, Roundhouse have the responsibility of booking the performers. We are sorry to hear the support acts did not meet your expectations.

Elvis Costello finished at approximately 9:15pm after starting at 8:15pm, in line with council permits and all promotional materials on both “A Day on the Green” and “Rochford Wines” websites. Simple Minds performed at 8:10pm in December and the Hoodoo Gurus commenced at 8:25pm in November, both concluding at approximately 9:30pm.

Due to Liquor Licensing Victoria’s regulations the Bars must close at 8:15pm. This is out of Rochford’s control and the licenses are determined by Liquor Licensing on a case by case basis. This is done to minimize intoxication and ensure the safe departure of all patrons.

Bar closing times were advertised on the Big Screen during the concert, but we will endeavor to increase signage at future events in order to improve communications.

Please feel free to contact us during business hours on (03) 5962 2119 if you wish to discuss any of the matters raised in this response further.
Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback and we hope to see you at A Day on the Green in the future.

Kind Regards

Rochford Wines Management
