We arrived at Tokar Estate without a booking for lunch on what was clearly a busy day (middle day of a long weekend) and were offered a table outside on the deck which we happily accepted. The view from our table was just stunning. The waitress was knowledgable about all the meals and we were given the chance to taste the wines before we ordered. We had two courses each and a shared cheese platter to finish all of which was simply delicious. We drank the rose and wooded chardonnay and were so impressed we bought some bottles to take home with us. We used the Entertainment Card which was accepted without question.
A great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon enjoying the views and great local produce. Will definitely return.

Tokar Estate is located in a beautiful setting, but that's about all it has going for it. The food was disappointing. Three of our party ordered steak medium-to-well-done, however this couldn't be accommodated. Fair enough? However not only were they not medium, they arrived bloody and rare. In my opinion, when you charge $40 for a dish, a reasonably small request like that should be considered. Two of our party ordered the duck breast. The duck was also rare and tasteless while the cabbage was very salty. Perhaps the food could almost be forgiven if the service would have been excellent. The wait staff were rude and abrupt. We ordered coffees and while the table next to us were served coffee with an accompanying biscuit, they failed to provide these for our table. Such a shame as I wouldn't go back there, nor recommend it to friends.

Absolutely breathtaking venue!

BUT...

Pulling into the drive in our Subaru it was hard to miss the five Mercedes' and the Maserati among the dozen or so cars.

This restaurant is fine dining, with the emphasis on fine!

We were dressed casually in jeans and flip flops and were promptly advised that they may not be able to serve us - they'd have to check with the kitchen. A little discussion, and some looks of disdain, we got the hint and hightailed it back to our side of town.

I'm sure the food and service is outstanding (the menu looked great), and there was nothing wrong with the staff, but of all the wineries we've visited around the world, this was the first time we were certainly not made to feel particularly welcome.

Not a spot for the casual weekender. Definitely don't think about riding your bike in for lunch!

We visited Tokar for dinner and were served by the owner. The food was great, scenery amazing and the wine can not be faulted!

Having visited most wineries in the area I can safely say this is by far my favourite!
