This place is a good example of the thoughtful combination of food, wine and atmosphere that characterises the better Yarra Valley wineries. It's a refreshing experience. Quite honestly, from time to time in the wineries of Burgundy in France, you get the distinct impression that they really can't be bothered with visitors. Their wines will sell at a premium price around the world anyway, so there's really no incentive to try very hard. And they certainly have no interest in providing any food at all to complement their wines. Most vintners in the Yarra Valley realise that they are in a much more competitive game and accordingly they try harder to craft a complete and enjoyable experience. That awareness shows at Bella Vedere at breakfast time. Sit in just the right place, you will have a good view of the chefs at work. And then you can enjoy the wonderful fruits of their labors. And, believe me, enjoy them you will. The flavor combinations are surprising, although you may well spot the origins of a few of them in the nearby kitchen garden. And then you can nip into the wine tasting room, where the well informed staff will guide you through the estate's signature offerings. After all of that, you have the rest of the Yarra Valley on offer. Relax and enjoy it.
