Gaffney's Restaurant is one of those gems which you come across by "word of mouth" so-as-to-speak.
While staying at Cuaneen House. Carramore. Louisburg. Co. Mayo the owner (Teresa Salmon) told my wife and I of this restaurant. We went along and had a very good evening dinner with incredible food and unique surroundings.
The proprietor and Chef is Orla Gaffney who is a most pleasant and delightful person. All the food produce cooked there are locally sourced from organic farms. The fish on the menu is sourced from local fishermen.
The history of the restaurant is very interesting. It was an old family Public House (Pub) many years ago. When Orla took over the business she converted it into a unique dining restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is as it was during her parents time and is most relaxing.
When in Louisburg, Mayo, my wife and I dine there regularly. You always come away contented after having had a very good meal and knowing it was prepared from "fresh" produce and cooked with great care and attention.
The restaurant closes for the winter months with the exception of weekends.
Thumbs up - it is a great restaurant.
Book early - it’s always busy.
