“Great Hotel and even better people!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

This is the wonderful hotel offering the unique combination and very friendly and personal service but professional in equally impressive facilities. The food is amazing with very reasonable priced lunch menu during the day. Everything about this hotel is very nice indeed. We felt welcome and well looked after. When we came back after a year, they actually recognised us! We stayed in the basic room which although maybe not looking as a 4* was very specious.

We spent one week during summer in this hotel. We had nice room, opportunity to rest in SPA and good access to beautiful places in mountains. I have to say about very good cuisine and polite and nice service and staff. Very useful was an entrance/car park card which permitted us to have free park place in most national parks and interesting valleys. One thing should be change in my opinion - internet should be free and available in hotel's rooms.
I definitely recommend this hotel :)

Great hotel and location, 2 minutes walk up a slight hill to gondola. This area is considerably cheaper than neighbouring Madonna De Campiglio which is easy to ski to with the superski pass. Food and wine were fabulous, dinner was buffet starter, followed by 3 courses served at the table, with a choice for main course and sweet. Staff very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our suite had beamed ceiling and large modern ensuite shower room.Booked with www.folgarida.com who delivered everything we asked at a great price. they actually upgraded our group to this hotel. On the downside there were a lot of children but it was half term.

Room Tip: Some rooms had a bath whilst others had just a shower check when booking. Our suite on 3rd floor had...

We stayed at the Caminetto (with Neilson) for a week after researching the hotels on-line, and we were not disappointed. The rooms were comfortable, ample size and masses of hot water for the powerful shower. We had a balcony on the front corner of the hotel overlooking the street. The food was excellent, and the attention to detail from the staff was super. We were the only Engish guests at the hotel (which suits us), and although we can't speak a word of Italian, the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The bar and lounge areas were comfortable, although the hotel owners children appeared to use this area to do their home work, which I felt wasn't appropriate.
The wine waiter was very attentive, and made some good recommendations, but watch out for the prices. I only saw the wine list on the first day, thereafter he brought his suggested wines to the table for us to choose, but it all added to the occassion.
The hotel is a stone's throw from the lift, and there is a super blue run back down to within 100 metres of the hotel. The skiing was fantastic for us (we are intermediate - late starters!), with lovely wide slopes and plenty of well priced restaurants & bars on the slopes.
We tend not to go back to the same place (too many places still to experience) but we might well make an exception to Folgarida and the Caminetto.

We arrived on new years eve on a late booking through a large UK ski operator who have only recently added this to their website.
Transfer up from Verona was about 2.45 hours but a scenic and interesting drive.
Initial impression was a bit of a let down compared to similarly priced packages we've had with this company. The public rooms are kind of all right really, nothing special, that's about it. It's one of those places that looks better in the dark.
There is a free kiddy club in the basement which was empty when we arrived and got an instant thumbs down from our two little girls ,although to be fair the guy in charge tried hard to make them feel welcome. They are maybe a bit old for this now at 7 and 9 so can't really criticise.
Our room was a real let down as we had specified a superior family room. It was very cramped and dingey with virtually no storage for a family of four with all the ski kit and kiddy clutter. It looked like a bomb site after we unpacked. The room was above the bar and was very noisy in the evening. This room turned out to be a mistaken booking and we were moved after a few days to the room we specified but this wasted a mornings skiing for us. The new room was an improvement but still quite cramped with insufficient storage or drawer space. Not a patch on similarly priced hotels in the brochure we have stayed in. The maid did a brilliant job each day to sort out our clutter.
The best thing about the Caminetto is definitely the food and the enthusiastic staff. The New Year gala dinner was superb and the Dining room is very welcoming. The food for the rest of the week was similarly superb- very locally inspired and authentic. Make sure your appetite is up to it though as each meal is a mammoth event! Aperitives with cheese/ ham etc are served in the bar before dinner.
We were on a package and they brought our kids all the adult dishes in full portion which was way too elaborate for small children. They will provide basic kids food ( pasta and chips!)if you ask them if the children are getting fidgety. I' d have preferred a better kids discount without the six course meal for a seven year old though.
The staff were all very pleasant and hard working. English is hit and miss but that adds to their charm. The menus are obviously written in very flowery Italian and then run through google translate for the few English speaking guests. The result was often hilarious and certainly gave an element of surprise to the dining experience! A huge wine list with reasonable range of prices. The barman/ sommelier was always very keen to help.
Breakfast buffet in a separate dining room was ok if basic.
Singer in the bar each evening seemed popular with the mostly Italien clientele and their kids .
Didn't use the spa so can't comment.
Wi-fi in public areas is not free as suggested in some brochures but I got unlimited access for ten euros.
In summary, great food, lovely staff but let down by rooms at the price we paid over new year.

Room Tip: Don't stay above the bar!

Stayed two nights. Staff were great even though english was limited.
Food and drinks were great as was location to ski lifts. Drove to the resort on the way to Venice, no problem but gps needed.
Family and I had a great italian ski visit/experience, shame we couldn't stay longer.
Ski resort small but connection is possible on same ticket to adjoining mountains.
