Certificate of Excellence

This is by far the best backpackers on the garden route. If you would love to meet the authentic people that give the garden route its magical energy come home to the wild spirit. Ola and her family are amazing and they will welcome u and make u feel right at home. And then there is the location. For me sitting on the deck staring at those majestic mountains I felt as if I were in a timeless space that could be anywhere. You will want to stay more than a day. Thanks Ola u r amazing thanx for always making me feel @ home.

I've stayed in quite a few backpackers during my travels, but Wild Spirit is definitely on the top of my list! The staff is amazing and very friendly. They make you feel right at home. They serve good home cooked food for reasonable prices. Accommodation is good. Dorms are spacious and very comfortable. The area offers beautiful hiking possibilities. And if you're lucky they take you on a nice sunset drive in de bakkie! If you're looking for friendly relaxed place to stay, go to Wild Spirit!

Room Tip: If you're traveling with a group, the family rooms are perfect. If you're a single traveler...

I have recently stayed at wild spirit backpackers for the third time in a year as I cant seem to keep away! On my first stay I was completely entranced by a night filled with drum circles by the fire, fire dancers and star gazing. Then was amazed by the the beauty which surrounds it. On my second stay I decided to take my 4 year old daughter and she was just as amazed as me, again a magical night of fairy fancy dress and a musician too. On my third visit, the feeling of total relaxation came back to me whilst chilling by the fire listening to guitar playing. I have stayed in a dorm here, a double room and camped! All accomadation was beautiful. Would recommend to all walks of life.

A lovely venue in the heart of the tsitsikarma, there are many hiking trails which are located close by.
Don't think you would be able to find a better retreat to spend a few nights the outdoor activities in the area really cannot be compared to many other areas in the world. Love the natural drift wood used to make the fire boma.
The loviest people too.

Wild spirit is situated in a great location, amazing views over the forest and close to a water fall.
It is really a great place if you want to disconnect and enjoy nature, but I am not sure about the state of the accommodation.

I have stayed in many places in south africa that were closely priced to the Wild Spirit but had much better rooms.

The rooms were badly lit, bathroom had no door, and there were no nets in the windows, which meant that when you are sleeping you are not just surrounded by nature outdoors but also indoors with a variety of insects lingering in your room. (lizards, centipede, mosquitos...etc)
If I wanted this experience, I might have as well stayed in a tent outdoors.
The room had a carpet all over the floor, which is kind of bad for many reasons:
- It is muddy everywhere around and that mud stays in the carpet when you walk in.
- It is humid, so the carpet is really filthy.
- if you are allergic to mites, good luck.

Its a shame, I really wasn't expecting luxury living or even two star living, but with such a great location and friendly and helpful staff all they need is just a bit of attention to small details and this could be a great budget place.
