We (2 adults, 2 children 10 & 11) happened upon the chateau whilst driving around the vineyards near Beaune. We were given a lovely tour (English and French) with only one other couple and were able to wander the pretty grounds befiore and after the tour.

I have travelled extensively in Europe so I have seen my fair share of castles. This one is one of the best. The location is fantastic (up on a hill overlooking rolling hills). Once you arrive at the castle, you must walk over a moat, and then knock on the door to gain entry. The small grounds are beautiful, the structure is gorgeous, and the castle tour is wonderful (the tour guides are knowledge and very friendly). This is a must-see, if you're in Burgundy. It's wonderful!

During our scenic drive through some vineyards in Burgundy we stopped in La Rochepot to see this chateau and it was so enjoyable...from the moment we laid eyes on it from a distance, to exploring its lavish interior. Immaculately maintained, both inside and out, this chateau is so cute.....especially the ancient knocker on the large exterior door that you have to knock three times to request entrance into the chateau. Part of the admission fee into this chateau includes a very informative guided tour (ours was in English) of parts of the chateau that are fully furnished to replicate life during the Middle Ages - the other half of the chateau we were able to tour on our own. If you don't stay for the guided tour you will completely miss out on seeing that half of the chateau, as you are not permitted to wander through these rooms freely. The views of the surrounding countryside from atop the short ramparts and the tower were very lovely and scenic. This chateau was a real joy to visit.

It's not big but more as nice to visit if your in the area. You have a nice view and a the guide you understand more of the region and the chateau in special.

Athe entrance is impressive, you walk across a drawbridge and knock three times to be allowed in. But €8 a head entry there is not a lot more to see apart from the courtyard and one tower although the views were nice from the courtyard.
It had started to rain and there was the possibility of a tour in another 40min but we didn't wait around.
