Review of Janaki Kund

Janaki Kund
Reviewed May 5, 2014

On the Banks of Mandakini river, about 2 kilometers away from the famous Ram Ghat, this beautiful Janaki Kund (also known as Sita Kund) is situated. Lord Rama's wife- Sita Ji- used to bath here during the period of her exile. There is a rocks nearby which bears the foot prints of Sita ji. Sita ji is also known as Janaki Ji, as she was the daughter of King Janak. You will also find nearby Raghuveer temple and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple.

Do not miss this temple if you happen to visit Chotrakoot- a very holy city in the State of Uttar Pradesh - well connected by rail and road.

One has to cross narrow pathway lined with houses on both sides.. but ultimately it opens up in a very beautiful picturesque scene. In winters, a mild gentle river flowing without any human intervention bushes growing around. A Janaki temple at the bank complements the view and its mythological history.
